I’m using a NIC cage and everyday when I come home from school I see ALOT of poo outside of the cage. I know its because of Johney marking the cage but how can I keep the poo inside the cage because it’s hard to clean behind the cage where most of the poo collects

this is not just marking… this will always happen from them jumping in and out and the poops getting kicked out. what i’d suggest is a handheld vac with a long nozzle so you can take a minute each day to suck up the strays. if you want a more permanent solution and don’t mind spending more money, you can get some cut plexi-glass from a home improvement store, or coroplast from a sign shop and attach it to the walls to keep everything contained. or… get covered cat litterboxes so when they jump out the kicked poops stay inside.

but like i said, it’s easier (at least for me) to suck ’em up once or twice a day.

Hi! I just wanted to chime in and add that you can put a grate like a wire cooling rack imbeded in the litter to prevent digging in the litterbox too but also wanted to ask is the poo because Johney is digging in the litterbox or it is just strewn everywhere? Is Johney fixed?

Wouldn’t the grate cause sore hocks? At least if you have a bun that likes to lay in their litter box pretty often

You could make sides on your cage but that’d be a little time consuming (sides out of coroplast) and maybe defeats the purpose of having it open and airy made from the cubes-I think the best is to get a long handle vaccum attachment like Beka said!

msarro-the grate can cause sore hocks if they are always on it-like a wire bottom cage-but for bathroom breaks it’s usually OK to put on on the litter box

Johney isn’t fixed yet and its everywhere randomly around the cage same with pee. Andy the other bunny is using the litter box fine.

msarro, not if you imbed it in the litter. I put a thin layer of litter under & over the grate plus some CareFresh and it does not cause sore hocks. It does however, discourage them from digging the entire contents of the litterbox out.
