What does it mean if it is double maned versus single maned?

Felony is a double mane. It means that he has a full mane around his head and chest. Looks like an actual lion mane. A single mane normally has long hair on the top of the head and it doesn’t fully encircle the head. I’ll try to find a picture.

also I think the doubles have the longer wool on the haunches and the single don’t… although I could be wrong about that

I have seen singles with a skirt and light mane.

The easiest  and most accurate way to tell is when they are born.   The double manes fur grows everywhere but where the mane and skirt will be. It does grow in in a few weeks or days.  The single mane has hair growing all over at the same time.

Lets see if I can get you a pic of that.

You see the pink in teh first photo that is where this baby is bare of hair and the lower pic too.

              The website is http://lionheadrabbit.net/gen%20mane2xm.htm

Hope that helps.   I love the lionhead breed and did lots of research and stuff on them. Even found a breeder.  We talk about them a lot.

She has a single mane with a light mane and a skirt.  She breeds double manes though. Her single mane jesse was going to be shown.

I even learned something new there.  Cotton is a continental mane lionhead.  Ok.  any questions about lionheads just ask.
