Well, I’ve been a “lurker” here for a while, ever since I got my adorable bunny, Dorian, in June. All the information here has been great, and with joy I read all the posts about owners who took their rabbits to get neutered/spayed and were happily reunited with their buns.

I got a phone call about an hour ago from my mother that I would not be one of those lucky owners

Even though they said everything was fine, it turns out my little one did not handle the anesthetics so well. It hurts even more because I’m away in college and just dropped him off at home for his surgery and now can’t be there for when my mom picks him up and buries him.

My mom feels terrible, even though it wasn’t her fault at all. She already said I can get a new one, and I will, but it’s just so hard starting all over again getting them to trust you and he won’t be my same little guy.

Thankfully, all the girls in my house are here with me to try and keep my positive, and are gonna miss the little guy too as he used to binky around the house all the time. I guess the point of me posting this is that if you haven’t already, go give your little ones a big hug and ear scratch…

oh no. i am so sorry to hear this. there’s nothing anyone can say that will really make you feel better, but it’s just one of life’s harsh realities. sometimes surgeries don’t go as planned. i do hope you will decide to open your heart to another bunny in the future.

          Binky Free lil’ Dorian!

I’m so sorry to hear this. It’s one of those things that you hear about and hope it will never be your beloved pet

You should put a memorial for Dorian (beautiful name by the way) in the support section when you feel up to it.

I am tearing up also! I’m so sorry. Especially when we make these decisions for the surgery to better there long term health. They are so fragile and it makes them all the more precious to us. I am glad you may get another bunny in time. The good out ways the bad in my opinion, and the little critters are healers too. Though you won’t be there, I hope you find a way to say good-bye that’ll remember Dorian with joy. Have a memorial you can always have with you that will make you smile.

(((onetimeonly))) (((Binky over the Rainbow bridge Dorian))) I’m going to give my bun a lovely nose rub now to acknowledge the specialness of all bunnies and honour your Dorian.

Awww I’m so sorry to hear about your bun, I know how fragile bunnies can be. What helped me when my beloved German Shepherd passed away was remembering the good times and keeping him alive in my heart. Know that you were good to him and he loved you with all of his bunny heart and that he’s happily hopping around over the rainbow bridge

I am so sorry about your loss.  I too am one of the unlucky ones.  I lost my sweet Cinnabun during a neuter as well. Just remember that you were just trying to do what was best for him.  As for getting another bunny you can get one that is already neutered or spayed and then you don’t have to go through the stress of it again. I just had my sweet Happy neutered a few weeks ago and trust me it’s crazy anxiety having your bunny neutered after that has happened in your life.

I’m so sorry for what happened-it’s absolutely heart breaking to have this happen especially so unexpectedly. My thoughts are with you, and do take solice in the fact that your bunny loved you and was happy with the life you gave him -shown by all those very cute binkies. *Binky Free Dorian*
