Can anyone remember the name of the member who is a vet?  She posted here to introduce herself sometime between May and August I think.  I vaguely remember  she was a small animals vet and posted a website.  Think she may have been Canadian???

Be mighty handy to ask her about some of those extra tricky questions (within reason of course!) I do recall she invited members to email her if they did want to ask specific things.  But i repeat, my memory is VAGUE!

No no, this was someone who posted just once. Been trying to recall for some time now. btw, I agree, Katnip is very clue-y!

yes i do remember. i guess she disappeared? forum settings are definitely not for everyone, so you’ll have folks sign up and then they lose interest, or get busy, or decide they just don’t like us… lol!

at this point, i would not recommend emailing her, for one: she’s not (and never was) an active member so she might not appreciate receiving emails, also we don’t know her credentials or experience.  as always, if there’s a question that we cannot answer, i’d take it up with your own vet.

No worries. I was surprised at the time she invited questions; thought she’d be inundated with them! I don’t have any queries myself, just thought would be good to have her name at hand.

Are you talking about the author Kathy Smith, the author of “Rabbit Health in the 21st Century”. She posted a while back, but only a few times.

naw, i think this was some other vet from somewhere. i’m pretty sure her screenname had DVM after it.

I do remember her but she only posted like once which is a shame.  I got the idea that she would frequent this site more often.  I think I asked her a question and she never responded…

I can’t remember her name either.  She has a website lets see if I can find it.

I think her site is   medirabbit.com   I went to that site once and learned some stuff  oh when a bun had a broken leg yes I went there and got some info.

I’m in the same boat, I remember this member, but I can’t recall their name. I would say that if you have a question that needs a vets knowledge, you should give yours a call and if they aren’t rabbit savvy, shoot Dana Krempels a question (while she is not a vet, she’s pretty sharp), print out her answer and talk to your vet about it further if it is not a life/death situation. Definately keep in mind there is no substitution for a physical exam and testing of the animal to determine what may be wrong. Many conditions have the same symptoms and require the care and attention of your veterinarian. I also just wanted to add that while I think it was neat they offered to answer questions, no-one can vouch for the content of the advice they would give. I am not saying it would be all wrong, but just to be careful.

BT, just to make you aware, the owner of Medirabbit is not a vet. Her own bio says she is a biologist. However, the site gives alot of the sort of thing I was interested in, referances to veterinary books etc.

OH well I guess she isn’t the one we are looking for. Yes there is good info on there.    Ooops.  That vet lady did say she had a site I thought she did.  Oh well…. WE can always ask here or Dana Krempels and the real vets.

Mystery solved I think.  Member posted just once in June 2008.  I wouldn’t know if she genuinely would now welcome enquiries/emails and the likes…..she does have an info website on exotics for those interested.

This is one of the best rabbit vet books I know of – many many rabbit vets use this as a reference – I want it, but I just have not gotten around to buying it because it’s kind of pricey.

Sarita, thanks for that book recommendation. I have heard of that too. It is pricey…will need to save for this one!
