Hi, C&C & Beka (and FluffyBunny–nice to meet you!)

*GASP*!  (That’s the sound of me coming up for air….)

Sorry, I know I dropped off the planet…it was a hectic couple of weeks.  I get this week off (except for Thanksgiving, which will be interesting without a dining room table because I have to have TWO pens thanks to Robbie’s bad attitude), and I plan on doing a lot of catching up!

Still not going great in Robbie-land.  I have him in a separate pen, 18″ or so away from Lizzy’s.  I still have to groom him like crazy, although the shed is waning a little.  I decided he needs socializing to humans before I try to rebond them. 

And obviously Lizzy needs to finish healing–although I took her to the new vet (the one MooBunnay recommended–he seems so much better than the last yahoos!  They even have a bunny-themed exam room with bunny pictures and statuettes and wallpaper!  And he handled squirmy Lizzy like he understood how to, unlike the last ones who seemed in constant danger of dropping her…), and he said she’s healing nicely.  No more open wounds.  One scab, and the other side is already new skin, no scab at all.

Having separate playtimes is not something I can continue indefinitely, though.  I just don’t have 6 hours of free time a day.  And poor sweet Lizzy goes up to his pen during her playtime to say hello, and he bites at her nose.  I told the vet this, and his response was, “Just like a battered woman, huh?”.  Exactly.  I just tried putting them together for the first time tonight, and she immediately groomed him and was very sweet.  He hunkered down and glared straight at me, as though he was saying, “If you weren’t here, I’d kill her.”  He waited until she moved down to lick his side, and her flank was more exposed, and then tried to bite her side again.  I immediately snatched him up, and now he’s sulking in his pen.  He’s been okay with me, except now he knows he’s in trouble, and when I walk past, he flattens himself to the floor and tolerates my touching him only because he knows he can’t really get away…

So the one thing I learned from that little experiment is that he’s a sneaky devil, and he will lie in wait until he thinks the coast is clear, and then he’ll try to do some real damage.  I don’t know what his problem is.

She still loves him.

I promised her when I first discovered that he’d drawn blood that I wouldn’t let him hurt her again, and that fear of her getting hurt, coupled with the downright EVIL way he goes after her makes me really afraid to try rebonding him.  I mean, what if he’s smart enough to pretend everything is okay again, and then try to kill her while I’m at work?  (I know, you probably think I’m paranoid, but you haven’t seen the demon-look in his eyes.  It doesn’t seem to have anything to do with territorialism or hormones or anything…he just wants to hurt her, it seems like…)

Thanks so much for asking!  It helps to know I’m not completely alone…

He’s actually being a friendlier people-bun….  I just don’t have time or space for 2 only-buns…  I don’t know what to do…
