Hmm ok I have never had a rabbit before Pacey but even this is a bit odd for me! I have a broom specifically for his room it’s nothing special just a regular broom. I noticed that when I get the broom out Pacey gets especially happy lots at first he just follows it around and going under it when I lift it up. Then when I sit it by the gate this is where it gets a bit creepy lol. First he goes to it and puts his head down like he wants it to pet him when it doesn’t pet him he starts GROOMING it! Not the bristles the handle then puts his head back down still nothing. So then he goes all the way back to his cage and gets a mouthful yes a mouthful of pellets and brings them over and puts them in front of the broom and then stares at it. When it doesn’t eat he pushes the pellets away and flops right against it and starts grooming it again! He won’t flop for anything but this broom! And when I take it out he takes a fit trying to chew through the gate so I have to take it out of the room so he cannot see it. What is the deal? Am I missing something here LOL
I wish I had my camera when he does it.
Haha, that must be one sexy broom!
I laughed so hard I spit on my screen! ![]()
Also, he must REALLY love the broom if he’s offering it food! That’s like offering it your first born child in bunny terms!
LMAO !!
That is so sweet!! I thought you were going to say he dug at the broom-something I’ve seen a million times!
Maybe it’s time to buy him a stuffed animal?
Maybe it’s time to buy a Dirt Devil and let him just keep the broom.
One unique bunny I think! Does he like to be brushed? Just wondering if the previous owner maybe sweeped up hay and stray poop & pellets then gave him a brush with the broom? Maybe why he brings pellets over – to be swept up? I know, sounds crazy and can they be that clever? Don’t know!!! Cute though!
how cute! awww! you could try giving him a stuffed toy, maybe he’d like to groom and lay against that?
Chuck LOVES his stuffed toys! Everytime he goes back to his area, he gives them quick ‘i missed you’ looking kisses. Very sweet.
Yeah he likes to be brushed lol I don’t know. He has a stuffed bear that he would probably scratch my eyes out if I tried to take it. He drags that thing everywhere and it is like twice his size
. If there is a lot of hay on the floor I have to actually remove him from his area to sweep it up because he is obsessed with the broom. Maybe I should give him another or 3 stuffed animals lol. It’s hilarous and creepy all at once ![]()
how old is he again? maybe his hormones have kicked in earlier than normal…
rofl that is the funniest thing I have heard seriously.
Oh my I hope you can video tape that I would love to see it. A love affair with a broom. And it doesnt’ groom him or eat ahhaaa. ahhaaaaa Now thats a good one.
Is he neutered yet? That just might cure him. In my previous life I was a broom. heehee.
I really don’t think groomign with a broom would feel good With buns you just never know what they are gona do next. They are just so entertaining. ![]()

He will be 12 weeks this Sunday no he isn’t neutered his vet refuses to do it before 5-6 months old. If I ever find my video camera again I will get a video lol it got lost during renovations. I have no idea why he does it.
why does the vet refuse to do it before that point? you might seek out a second opinion b/c with buns it’s usually in everyone’s best interest to not wait too long. that’s when the bad habits kick in (destruction, spraying- ew!) and they can be harder to break the longer they’re allowed to continue. i’d think about it, maybe call around.
There are only 3 vets around me or within an hour of me that are even willing to see a rabbit. One won’t spay/neuter any and the other two will only spay/neuter at 6 months old. I will probably try to convince the current one to do it earlier but I don’t know if he will or not.
Awwww hahah that’s way to cute! My bun tried to ask our kitten to groom her, but the kitten is afraid of her now so she runs off if Smudge even moves in her pen!
So funny, I almost cried laughing, in the uni library too, then digx, your comment…you guys are crazy – but not as crazy as the bunny. Offering food to the broom! My bunnies have done some crazy things but this one def takes the cake! I’m printing it out and putting it on my wall…everytime my buns do something weird, I’ll refer to that as my check for bunny normality.
Hahahahaha. Asking the broom to groom him! Atleast he doesn’t get angry at it & give it bunny butt.
Oh my goodness – that is hilarious!
Ok I got some pictures lol they are cellphone pics so they are horrible. I was getting ready to clean and took all my cleaning supplies in and had to go get a dog that escaped the yard and when I came back this is what I caught. I don’t know if you can see but in front of the broom is the food lol.

Lol he has cardboard on his booty!
And just because he is adorable

thanks for the pics he is so cute. Was he the one you got when this guy had to move and needed a home for him? He was hand fed cause he was so young? Or do I have the wrong one.
Well no matter this is hysterically funny. I see the food he brought the broom too. Awe my best friend broom.
Yeah he is the one I got from the guy that hand fed him. I thought it was a fluke at first then he kept doing it and I was like you are a little odd aren’t you lol
OMG! I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the photos….bbwwaaaaaahhh
that is one serious relationship. and one gorgeous fluffy bunny
so if this continues, when you cross a dustbunny with a broom you get little swiffers? or rabbrooms?
I’ve got to keep up with this thread!
Kathy
That is seriously cute (in a scary kind of way) that he brings the broom his food to share!!!! My first bun loved brooms too… but, um, not quite that much!!!!
Best thread ever. Seriously awesome.
It really seems like he’s treating the broom like another bunny. Even though it wouldn’t smell like one, look like one or feel like one! Just thinking maybe it does have to do with him being handraised. He was either orphaned or rejected by the mother. I remember watching a program recently where an orphaned kitten started suckling a female dog! The dog was experiencing a false pregnancy so it was looking for a puppy substitute, and the kitten was orphaned young and wanted a mother. They ended up giving the kitten a soft toy cat had a imitation heartbeat. Be interesting if Pacey would take to a snuggle toy.
That is too too cute Sonn!!! I’ve heard of opposites attract but wow a bunny and a broom !!!
Such a cute wittle face Pacey has.
if you’re using the broom to sweep us his fur and poos, it probably smells like him! those brooms will pick up particles more easily than the old straw ones i think… that is so funny!
the second “cardboard booty” pic didn’t show up for me… :o(
Hahaha, that is too cute! Why do buns have love affairs with the strangest things. My bun loves one of the throw pillows I have on my couch. Sometimes it gets tossed to the floor and he is immediately rubbing his entire face against it and licking it. Then he’ll flop on top of it and lay on it and lick it. If its up on the couch, he jumps up on the couch and sits right next to it and licks it. He’s never offered it food though, but that would be hilarious if he did.
“Oh pillow, you are so soft and beautiful! Please, come back to my place, we can have a drink, maybe some wine…” (this is of course said in a sexy latino voice, because that’s what my buns voice sounds like…. in my head…. bunnies make you crazy)
^^^lmao! that’s great! it’s probably a good thing he doesn’t offer it food. you’d go to sit on the couch and there are bunny pellets or a big soggy piece of lettuce laying there… lol!
my mom has dog pillows and people pillows on her couches. you know when they haven’t been changed out, they’re all furry, and slobbery and smell like dog!
The thing about small towns you can find out anything about anybody so since yesterday I have been asking around about the man that gave me Pacey. And I learned a ton turns out Pacey’s mom died giving birth to not only him but 3 other buns 2 boys and a girl. They were all handfed and Pacey lived with the 2 other boys until the day I got him. The others were quickly taken by relatives and friends but no one wanted a black rabbit so he had no where to go but the shelter and the rest is history. I wonder if he misses having other bunnies around and is substituting other objects like the broom and his teddy bear? It’s still weird lol
it’s possible! aww Pacey. so he has brothers and a sister out there! i wonder what they’re coloring was…
Awe he is a pretty black bunny. I can see you having to take the broom with him to get his vet checkups.
That would be a riot. What a cute personality he has
Did they tell you much else about the previous owner? I remember you said he was quite attached. Be fantastic if you could contact him to update him on how Pacey is doing.
A few people have told me he moved to Germany so don’t think I will be calling him anytime soon lol. There are a few people around where I live that know him and said he was a big animal lover that is about all I know about him.
Oh well, maybe he can get updates on BB or Bunspace if the relatives could forward on info. Or maybe it’s best to let it be…![]()
