Or a gourmet chef when preparing their bunny salads?

LOL  I like to arrange mine…I’m probably nuts or way too bored.  This is how I do mine..

I start with romaine.  I take about three leaves each and I break them in half and fan them over the back of the bowl.  Then I take their “treat” and put that in the bottom.  It’s usually like little pieces of celery, the romaine core, or little tiny pieces of carrot. (today it was carrot because we also had the last of the carrot tops as part of their salad.  I stuck those in back of the romaine kinda like baby’s breath in a bouquet heheh.  Then I take something like kale or turnip tops..something fat and leafy and lay that over it kind of like a second bowl.  Then I take the first herb..today it was cilantro and break them in half and line them along the one side  like a / shape.  Then I take the other herb..italian parsley today and line it on the other side… like a \ .  Then I stick their little piece of mint and a piece of a sprig of rosemary right in the center cos it looks so pretty there like a flower.  LOL I know the bunnies really don’t care but I LIKE arranging their salads.

Actually I think they kinda care …lol…Tucker loves to eat bits from everything and this makes it easier for her to do so.  She doesn’t like to eat all her romaine then all her turnips then all her parsley.  She likes to sample everything.  I used to leave things whole and put them on a plate for her …before Mike started asking “where did our other good dinner plate go??” woops! Anyway, so I had them all laid out like that for her and she’d toss the stuff she didn’t want to eat out of the way to get to the other stuff and it’d make such a mess and things would then get trampled and I’d have wilted veggie pieces lying about because for some reason once they’re out of the bowl and onto carpet they just wilt like crazy.  Where if they sit in the bowl all day they’ll still be nice and fresh for her each time she comes back for more.

Drue probably never even notices cos he’s just like “FOODDDDD!!!!!!!!!!” and inhales it before he even sees the bouquet of veggies I’ve made him.

So I’m probably nuts right?  LOL normal people probably just toss some stuff in and be done with it?  LOL

OMG YES!! I was just thinking that today. I definately get the gourmet chef with pride in ther presentation vibe. I change my “presentation” every night depending on what vegetables are beign fed but usually its treats at the bottom, large leafy veg on top in like a bowl shape and then the stalks and harder vegetables. Squishy veg like capsicum goes on top and then a pretty herb on top as a garnish to my bunny salad!

I really enjoy making their salads and try to include at least three different types of vegetable although it usually ends up being like 5 different types. I also try to make sure there’s several different colours to make sure they’re getting a range of vitamins! Each salad is made according to the hutch/pet Im feeding. My baby piggy loves leafy greens and hates capsicum for example so I adjust the vegie ratios lol. my presentation doesn’t mean anything to him, he usually just tips the bowl and then cries until I turn it over for him. He then proceeds to tip the bowl over again  I also chop enough vegies for about two to three nights at a time so I have a chance of enjoying life rather than perfecting the art of vegetable slicing every night. They’re then stored in containers according to type….

Gasp!! We should all post pictures of our bunny salads!! Tomoro night I’ll upload my “creation”

Haha, I don’t have time to make salad bouquets. Lately I’ve just been buying pre-cleaned mixed spring salads and just topping it with parsley sprigs! That’s about as fancy as i get right now.

Frankie just inhales them anyway. And my pigs treat it like a competition of who can get to the bowl and eat the most the quickest.

Danmers capsicum   Do you mean like the capsicum peppers?  What is capsicum is what I am trying to figure out.

No I just put the broken up salad on Cotton’s shelf and some on the top of his house too.  And some in Ruby’s house.

that is nice though a beautiful salad.  It makes it all the more appealing. Plus colors on the plate too.  You know foods of different colors. I like that.  Sounds like a fancy restaurant at your house.  Do you cater?

Capsicum is Bell Peppers. When we refer to Peppers is Australia, we usually mean Chilli ! I now serve the salad on a big oval platter after it was continually being dumped out of the bowl. Looks impressive on a big white platter!

lolz…*raises a sheepish hand* Unless I’m in a real hurry or don’t have enough ingredients, you’d think Gordon Ramsey was looking over my shoulder and throwing expletives at me to get me to make better presentations with my bunny salads. I really try to doll them up but the buns would eat whatever I brought them even if it was only flopped on a paper towel. ^_^

i used too when i had one. now with the two i tear up everything, throw it in my salad spinner and then just scoop handfuls into their two bowls. Max will tip the bowl up to eat, so it all falls out on the fllor anyways. but i used to arrange parsley srpigs too, lol.

I always “hide” the things they like best on the bottom of the bunny salad.
However, it took them no time at all to figure this out – they will move the greens on the top with their nose, and sometimes even dig with their paws, to get at the “yummies”.
This totally cracks me up – so, I still hide their favorites!
