I am so happy to be in touch with other who have bunnies so I can learn more.  I just adopted two 4 month old bunnies and they have become the highlight of our lives.  We lost our two dogs and looked into adopting more animals and we were at a wildlife preserve and they had bunnies that they wanted to place before winter set in and it gets cold ( I live in Wisconsin)  I fell in love with two and after some thought decided to give it a go and they are the most delightful pet sand additions to our family.  They are using their litter box and play so adorable with their toys.  We have them in a bunny proof room with all their stuff  and they seem very happy.  I lay on the floor and talk to them for hours and bursh them gently and they come up by my face and lick my chin.  They are so easy going and so much company. We do have a cat and we have watched closely and she seems to think they are the litter she never had….  They go in the other rooms of the house when we watch them so they don’t get into any problems.  They are so good and I loved them but never dreamed I would enjoy them as much as I do.   Any tips for a new “Mom” will be appreciated.  I have a friend who lives 2 hours away and has had bunnies for years come down and vist and help me get started this site will help me with play ideas so much more!

HI Judyz! You have come to the best place for bunny help.

Growing up I was obsessed with cats and we had a few dogs. Bunnies were always cute but never thought of them as pets for me. I am so allergic to most animals that when I had my own place I begged my husband for a pet and we decided a cute furry bun would be good. She stole our heart from the first day. Now she is 6 years old and we have 4 buns total. lol They seem to be addictive.

THis site has so much information and you can also check with the House Rabbit Society at http://www.rabbit.org. You may have a local HRS near you that will have people who are local for questions or help you may need local.

Binkybunny has some great toys for buns and another great place for buns toys/treats is http://www.busybunny.com.

finally i got a picture it.  I have them in a large bunny play pen because they seem to love it. Since I put them in the Pen they use the litter box most of the time and they can see and play and jump when I need to do something and they are really seem to like it and the cat sits on the outside and then make noises back and forth.  Snowflake has nipped mu arem acouple of times.  it dosn’t hurt at all but I wondered if anyone knows if this is affection or is he mad and should I tell him no, no, no so he dosn’t become a biter?

                                    you should always discourage nipping.

                                    Such a cutie.

WELCOME! What cuties!! You can tell they are loved and you are doing a great job with their living space! It’s difficult to litter-train baby bunnies, so congratulations!! Good job! If they happen to lose their habits over the next month, don’t worry – it’s just their hormones which will die down after they are spayed (takes about a month or so)

Has Snowflake been nipping just lately? If so, it might be hormonal due to the fact that they may be reaching sexual maturity. He might be getting territorial – does he nip when you reach in to his pen or ???.

And speaking of sexual maturity – You said in the first post that they were 4 months, but then said that December 1st they would be 4 months. Was that just a type and they will really be 5 months? I am wondering because IF they are male/female, though females don’t usually reach sexual maturity until about 5 months, it is not impossible for her to get pregnant before then. So you may want to separate them until you can have someone verify their gender. If a young bunny gets pregnant too early, this is extremely hard on them.
