Either one or both of my rabbits have gotten into the habit of peeing in their veggie bowl.  I believe it started when I switched to a basket for their veggies.  It was chronically wet in the morning.  I thought it was just really absorbing the moisture in the veggies.  It started to stink after  a while, so I figured that they didn’t like the basket.  I returned to their glass bowl.  Now that’s been getting pee’d in.  It is definately pee not veggie water.  It stinks!  What gives w/ these naughty bunnies?????

Sorry, but I just have to laugh at your situation. Who ever heard of a bunny peeing in his veggie bowl! Haha, that’s just too funny!
As for the solution, you could try to get a bowl that your bunnies cannot climb into. You could also get one of those veggie holder balls.

I don’t Know, Thats all I can think of.

are you feeding something they don’t like? (lol.)

sorry. that is strange. if it keeps up, can you get one of those elevated bowl stands that they have for dogs or cats? i *think* Sage Cat has a little metal stand that holds the bowl off the ground by maybe 4 or 5 inches…

Do you think it’s the bowl?

Can you just put the veggies on the ground and see what happens. I don’t put my veggies in bowls or on plates – I figure they aren’t going to stay there anyway, they are going to be tossed and dragged around as they eat them and they end up foraging in them anyway looking for what they want.

^^ Yes I’d say either loose the bowl or put them insomething high off the ground like a hay rack

For some reason….started about the time Leo got neutered…someone’s being peeing & pooping on the food shelf.  Normally I would get a few marking poops, but now it’s become a potty for some lazy bunny.  It makes me sad b/c this is where they eat & many times hang out.  When I had the giant veggie basket, they liked to climb in it to eat their veggies.  Probably when the peeing started.  Maybe they forgot they were in the food bowl rather than the veggie bowl.  I now have gone back to their glass/ pyrex loaf dish.

I would put the veggies right on the floor, but since someone pee’s & poop’s there, I don’t feel like it’s very sanitary.  I had gotten one of those veggie balls some time ago, but Leo was a bit too “special” to get the hang of it.  I now use that as a hay bowl in their litterbox.  They still use their litterboxes…but it just seems like someone is getting a little too loose w/ the potty’ing.

Funny story…I have a friend, whose cat pee’s and poops in the dog’s food bowl.  Initially she thought it was a fluke, until she caught him all propped up over the dog bowl trying to get precise aim.  It’s kind of extra funny (in a morbid way) b/c he only has one eye…so he has to work really hard to get it right.   Poor guy!  I told her that he obviously HATES the dog!

A bit too “special” eh? LOL

How long ago was Leo neutered? Would he need to be litterbox re-trained?
