I got some dried papaya, but I don’t know how much to give my bun.  She’s max 3 lbs… 9 months.  Thanks.

I would just give the same amount of it as I would dried apple or raisin. It’s healthy but still a fruit, so limit the amount

How much dried apple or raisin? My bun doesn’t like most fruit, won’t eat anything besides apple once in a while– but she LOVES the papaya… One little piece every day, or one little piece every other day, or every two days? A couple pieces every couples of days?

The guideline in Rabbits for Dummies is:

2 pounds of bunny or less: less than 1 tablespoon per day

5 pounds of bunny or more: less than 2 tablespoons per day.

Now, that leaves a gap between 2 and 5 pounds… which always bothered me.

For dried fruit I think the the sugar is more concentrated since there’s no water left, so I usually do just like 2 or 3 raisins per day max for my 5 pound bunny. So if she’s only 3 lbs, probably 1/2 a tablespoon of fresh fruit, and less than that for dried fruit. Hopefully that helps a bit!

personally, i still think those “Rabbits for…” amounts are too high. i know that’s recommended in other sources too, but i limit it even more than that. i would probably keep with only one piece a day. they are not very big right?

I will give like max four raisins in a day-so about that much papaya. If the fruit isn’t dried you can offer a bit more (like four grapes size worth!)

This is what it looks like.  So maybe one piece a day?  If I gave her three pieces on Sunday, can I give her one today?  Should I do one a day, or two every other day?  They are a tiny bit bigger than a raisin, but she doesn’t eat any other fruit or treats.  She’s max 3 lbs. Thanks.

I’d think you could give 2-3 a day and she should be ok. Of course cut back if she gets an upset tummy or anything, but if she doesn’t have a weight problem and she’s not upset I’d think she could have a few!

For what it’s worth, I concur!
