The first time I encountered her was at 3am. I woke up to a weird noise. J said it was a dream.

But then I heard her again: “Why the %^#* is there some woman in our house talking about batteries”

Turned out to be the smoke alarm just outside our bedroom. Trying to get the stupid thing down & managing to get new batteries in it at 3am – not so much!

At least this time she showed up at 6:30am – the alarm goes off at 6:40am. J was even already up and working in the office.

However, it was the smoke alarm in the living room – Bunny central!

Good thing J was home – I never would have been able to reach the stupid thing, especially with terrified bunny’s zipping back and forth across the room. All while in that annoyingly calm voice, she keep repeating “Batteries Low!”

After we get the batteries changed – and shut her up – I turn to the buns. Kay needs pets – I don’t blame her. I kneel dome to pet her. Winston is all hyped up. So, he just runs back and forth between me and Kay, under my arm while occasionally head butting my arm.    Kay sits incredibly still while Winston runs past her – she is use to his wackiness.

Then I gave them cookies – and every one was happy:

        1. Kay debate weather or not to disapprove of this snuggle.

        2. Kay give in to the snuggle – awww.

Yup, had a similiar thing with my smoke alarm. At first I thought it was an inconsiderate neighbor whose smoke detector was on a low battery and chirp/beeping every 30 seconds. And after each beep, there was a thump.

Turns out it was the one in the bun’s room and Maryann was thumping each time the thing beeped. She kept it up for a couple of minutes after I fixed it, just to make sure I checked that there wasn’t a fire someplace.

oh that’s funny! so yours actually says something about the batteries? mine just makes the beeping noise. that’s such a pain when it goes off, they are hard to reach, but it’s a safety precaution. we don’t want charred buns…

i love those pics of them. the second one where their faces meld together is so precious!

That’s happened to me too – it’s very annoying! I’m very bad about changing them out as recommended.

Cute pictures too of the buns! They are so photogenic.

Did y’all notice the green food stains around Winston’s nose? He had just been eating pellets.

My smoke alarm goes off when ever anyone cooks! At first the bunnies were trerrified, thumping, running around etc but now they just ignore it.
Somehow I don’t think they’ll ever save me from a fire lol. Maryann needs to give them Fire Warden training

Does your smoke alarm scream at you to “Get outta the house!” when there’s a fire? No? Didn’t think so! Just inconveniently wakes you up once in a while about batteries – blah!

Hahaha!!! Jerseygirl, thats what I want. Like in Resident Evil when the girl says “your all going to die down here”, a fire alarm thats says, ‘Your house is on fire, please forward to the nearest exit immediately’ hehehe

Our smoke alarm battery indicator always seems to go off in the middle of the night! Soooo annoying. I usually try to shove a pillow over my ear, but it usually doesn’t help. Grrr.

Speaking about fire alarms and such… I live in California and last week we had some awful fires about 10miles from my home, i could see them burning out my window and on the mountain side

Well at 4am this terrible noise goes off and all i hear are the dogs rustling about and TigerLily thumping in her cage, it was the fire alarm! First thing i do is look out the window and see if any new fires went off near us but i see nothing, not even the fires that were burning prior to going to bed.

Well my husband wakes up and is upset because he gets up early and i get dressed and look out the hallway to see if there is smoke or a burning smell. Nothing, i text my neighbor and she says shes EVACUATING! so i didnt have a carrier for Bunny so i stuck her in my purse and got the dogs and we ran downstairs.

Some idiot thought it would be funny to pull the fire alarm

The entire fire squad showed up like 3 fire trucks and 2 paramedic trucks. After an hour! of sitting in the cold sidewalk with bunny thumping in my purse we were allowed back in, we are now looking for a way to disconnect the speaker in our room bc it is a bit excessive we have 1 speaker in our living room and one in the bedroom and its a 1bed 1 bath! I know they can be so helpful and save lives but boy are they obnoxious.

I know women carry a lot of stuff in their purse, but…

Re: smoke alarm going off when cooking – I’ve had sensitive ones near apartment kitchens, so I learned to put the stove fan on low before starting anything that smokes even a little from a pan. It moves the air around just enough to not build like a fire would. Better for the digestion to eat in peaceful silence.

A bunny thumping in your purse – he, he, he.

Yea – I don’t think it would be very relaxing to eat a nice diner with the fire alarm going off!

                                            Bunnies in purses!! LOL

That’s how I smuggled my buns in or out (until I got a carrier that looks like a giant purse and nothing like a carrier) of my apartment! Rupert was so big, he went in a gym bag for the ‘sneak out to the vet’ trips

lol. I bought a proper carrier since last week, she was pretty mad at me for the remainder of the night, now when she sees that same purse she looks at me with the evil eye. lol.
