This is a photo post of their interactions tonight.  I’m not so good at reading “bunny” so I am not quite sure what was going on.  This is what Drue usually does.  He goes up to Tucker, they sniff each other and he lays down.  Sometimes he looks away like here..and sometimes he looks at her.  She usually just sits there like this and watches him lay there.

She looked as if she was going to lay down..and then she just walked away.

He then got up…switched so he could see her..she was to the left where both Drue and Peanut are looking…  and then once seeing her he laid down.

Which of course made her come hoppin’ over and she sniffs him.  She then nipped his bum…

So he got up and sniffed her too.

          Then he looked away…

And then gave her the bunny butt.

And then started grooming himself..she binkied away…kind of mid binky shot there…

Then he went and laid down…she came back like “wait what?? you’re not watching me anymore??”

         And he said..”nope..nope I’m not”

         ”well hmph!”

Then like after 5 minutes of lounging they started the WHOLE thing over again.  What is up with those two?? I can’t tell if they hate each other, don’t care about each other, might like each other…..I have no clude.

Well in any case they’re both full of it tonight and are going crazy around the house right now.  They’re going to have to retire to their condos soon so I’m trying to let them get out all their energy.

te he – that’s definately a “well hmph!” shot there!

I remember reading sometimes buns will compete to demonstrate who is the most relaxed. i.e. flop or groom self. Maybe this is going on? Or is Drue just really laid back and will lay out where ever he pleases?! lol

Well Drue definitely wins the more “relaxed” bun award.  He’s always lounging while she just sits there or bun loafs.  She will groom herself around him but usually it’s after he starts doing it.  He seems to be more passive aggressive and she’s more obvious about her feelings.  She’s the aggressor but then again she’s got hormones so in a few weeks that shouldn’t be an issue anymore.

I love Drue’s coloring…he is such a handsome bunny.  I believe I also read that about body language…it appears he is showing Tucker how unconcerned he is about her by turning his back on her, grooming and flopping.  Are his ears always a little pitched forward?  If not, I think his ears are betraying that while he is posturing complete disinterest, he is aware of her.  But I know that some lops are different with their ears.  Cotton my Mini Lop has to purposefully pitch her ears forward and is expressive with ears, but Penny my Holland Lop does all kinds of funny helicopter, sometimes uppy ears, sometimes forward and sometimes lop that I at this point find her ears less expressive as they sometimes look goofy from seemily no effort on her part.  And she has “gumby” ears- you can move them how you like and they will stay that way for a little bit…want an uppy eared rabbit no problem?  lop or helicopter?  you can move them and they will hold until she moves.  Hopefully as I get to know her better I will get a better read on her body language.

How funny, Tucker looks like a demon bun lol, lucky she’s so beautiful
I think they’re flirting too, sizing each other up.

is it just me or can you feel Tucker’s hormones thru the pictures? lol! i don’t think you’re going to be able to get an accurate reading until after her spay b/c she seems like she might just be high-strung at this point. Markus referred to the laying down by the cage thing as “guarding” which could be viewed as a negative/dominant behavior… so i really think there’s no way for you to tell until you can actually begin face to face bonding. they are interested in each other, but is it “interested in fighting” or “interested in loving”?

In the second picture, it’s a little hard to tell if she was just hopping away or not but it looks like she’s lifting her tail a bit. This is usually an aggressive posture but like I said, it’s hard to tell.

Drue’s lying in front of her could be his way of ‘guarding’ his territory from her crossing over into it. It could be a very dominant behavior or it could be just flirting. Until their hormones are all gone, it’s kinda hard to tell.
