I’m probably just being paranoid.  So probably this is nothing, but I’m a tad concerned, and wanted to tell someone…

Robbie did the usual run-around-the-living-room this morning.  Sucked down all his lettuce.  Pooped, peed, did the usual.

But since he’s been in his pen, he sort of keeps repositioning like he can’t find a comfortable position.  Meatloafs, sticks his legs out, tucks them back in (all of this resulting in crashing into the pen, so I could hear him thrashing around, which made me watch him).  Normally, he finds a position and is motionless for an hour at a time.

Then Lizzy hopped out of the hutch and went down to hang out with him, and he jumped out from his hidey-hole immediately, foot-flicked, and ran up into the hutch (which he normally doesn’t like much).  He and Lizzy were also fine this morning.  They’ve NEVER had a problem sharing space of any sort.

Now he’s doing a sphynx impersonation in the corner of the hutch.  He isn’t showing any particular sign of pain, but this weird unsettled thing is unusual for him…

        Probably it’s nothing and I’m a paranoid bunny-mom…

No it’s really good to always watch that kind of thing, any changes could just be bunnies being bunnies OR sickness so we all need to be paranoid!!

          I’d continue to keep an eye and make sure he’s pooping and eating. Maybe give some OVOL or semethicone if you have some on hand and a gentle tummy rub {VIBES}

            Thanks, K&K!

He’s still sitting in the same corner in sphinx-mode…lets me pet his nose, but hasn’t budged.

It’s pellet-time in 30 min or so, and then I have to go to work until 6pm, so I guess I’ll see if he still goes crazy for pellets, and then check on him after work…

If he still seems uncomfortable, what’s a good simethicone dosage for a 5.5 pound rabbit? (I actually do have some…I did something right!)

Let us know how he does when you feed him his pellets.

Not sure about the simethicone dosage however since I never use this.

Well, he ate some pellets, but not with the usual my-mommy-starves-me vacuum-cleaner intensity as usual… And he didn’t finish them, which is also weird. (I only give him 1/8 cup in his bowl…the other 1/8 I scatter in a litter box for him to forage. So he didn’t even finish 1/8 cup)

But he just got out of the litter box and the poop looks fairly normal…

                I hope he’ll be ok while I’m at work…

Its good to be cautious, but it could be nothing! Boston has days kind of like this, where she can’t seem to find the right spot and she’ll run and hide rather than finish her pellets. Could just be restless, could be the weather, maybe just a tummy ache.
                  But keep your eyes open!

He hasn’t vacuumed up any of Lizzy’s hair lately, has he? I’d be on the lookout for hair in his stool or possibly it may still be inside him and causing discomfort?

Well, I came home from work at 6pm, and he scarfed down his lettuce as per the usual.  Then I had to run off to rehearsal for 4 hours, and I just let them out, and Robbie did a run around the living room before settling under his favorite chair, so I guess he’s ok.

He definitely was not feeling great earlier, though…poor guy.

MimzMum, we’re ALL vacuuming up Lizzy hair!  It’s out of control…She definitely has some hair in her poop.  I haven’t noticed any in his, which is weird, because he does groom her.  My nose is raw from rubbing at it because of Lizzy hair, and now one side of it is swollen, and I think it may be infected.  My BF is supposed to bring me a medical mask from work, but he’ll probably forget…And Lizzy’s still shedding.  No end in sight.

This thread probably should have been in Diet & Care…sorry.  It started out as “behaving” oddly…

Thank you all so much for your support and concern!  I really appreciate it!  He seems ok now.

If you all have any hints on how to get us through this Lizzy-shed, it’d be much appreciated… (They’re both eating more hay than usual, of their own volition.  I give them dried pineapple.  I groom her every morning for 10 minutes.  And the new Papaya Treats just came by mail, so they were only without for 4 days…  Don’t know what else to do…  Of course, his tummy-ache could have been unrelated, although their diet hasn’t changed at all…)

I think your bunnies whispered to my bunnies that a complete and very messy shed is necessary at this time. Mimzy came out on my bed today and all I had to do was touch him….*POOF!* Bunny fur everywhere!

                            … >.> …

                            It’s a BUNspiracy, I tell you! 0_o

Glad to hear Robbie appears okay, but I’d keep an eye on him all the same. I hope your nose feels better soon, egads, you don’t need an infection at a time like this! (or anytime for that matter!)

Oh, poor MM! I wouldn’t wish this shedding on anyone!

Yes, I’m watching him. He’s on the other side of the room, under his chair, being anitsocial. That’s pretty normal, post-neuter and -bonding. No more cuddle-bunny on the couch for me…

Lizzy takes turns visiting us, sweet girl. Lounges with him for 30 minutes. Runs over and bumps at me for a pet for a while. Goes back to him.

At least Lizzy’s getting her exercise!

I find that some of my rabbits go through these fazes too and I wait awhile and they are fine. Makes me wonder if the weather has something to do with it or if they just happen to be particularly tired that day because I interrupted their nap.

i have noticed this with mine the past few days. they haven’t been scarfing their food like usual, but hay consumption is still up. they just seem to both be in a lull and i’m wondering if it is weather-related…

I’m definately going to weather related. boston has been having her days.
and now that its getting cold out we are hoping her shedding stops as well…
