For those that have been following along, good news!

My dad has changed his mind, he says the rabbits can stay in the house again! My mom says she expects the litterboxes to be cleaned every day. (I don’t mind, I used to do every other day) He’s giving them a week’s try, and hopefully this will all be resolved. =) I was so happy I cried. =D

          Oh, heck, this is awesome!
Such a great sign that he is going to work with you.
I clean out the litter boxes daily – i find once you get into the routine of it then it’s not such a big deal.
I’m very happy for you & your buns!

Oh congratulations! That’s great news! I clean the litterbox pretty much daily too – just use less litter at a time. I’m so happy for you!

                    WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

“good news”? nope, this is GREAT NEWS! you must be so relieved… i think the playhouse could still be a neat place for them to play in the spring before it gets too hot, but i know you’ll feel so much better having them with you where they’re safe!

what helps me stay on track is doing something at the same time everyday, so pick the time that works for you best, 7 days a week, and maybe set a timer to go off, at least until you get in the habit. dumping everyday is esy. you can dump and refill, clean up some stray hay and straighten the cages all within a few minutes, 10 minutes tops. i do a more thorough cleaning once a week, where the boxes get scrubbed out with vinegar, the whole pen gets vacuumed.

oooh! i’m so excited for you!

will you try and bond them again now?

Awesome! I was wondering how things were going with you! What made him change his mind? (Thank goodness he did!)

What a relief.  Cool… Am so happy for you.  I know you can clean their boxes every day. You may perhaps want to put some arm n hammer bakng soda i think that stuff is.   Will help absorb smells too.

Oh this is very hopeful! Hope the weeks trial is a success. All the same, respectfully check in with your Dad to see if he has any other concerns. What litter do you use? From general concensus here, paper or wood pellets seem to be the best for odour control. As bunnytowne suggested, baking soda/ bicarb soda helps absorb smells. You can just put a few bowls of it around the room they are in. It’s really cheap and available at most grocery stores. Good Luck!

I actually have no idea why he changed his mind. I had come home from school, and my mom quite randomly told me that they could stay in, as long as I clean their litterboxes everyday. It was really surprising.

I use carefresh right now. Is that a good litter? And I think I will take up your ideas on the baking soda, no harm in it, for sure.

And yes, if this week goes well, I’m gonna try bonding them again. =)

Carefresh is recyled paper right? I’m not familiar with it. But, yes, paper works pretty good. If you can get wood stove pellets, that’s even cheaper!
