The bunnies have figured out that all nom-ables originate in the kitchen.  So when I go into the kitchen, they hover under the dining room table, closest to the kitchen door, and wait.  And when I leave the kitchen, I have a bunny feeding frenzy on my hands!  I’m a sucker, and keep giving them treats (sometimes their treats are only a piece of lettuce, but they don’t seem to mind), which makes the problem worse…

What have your bunnies figured out?

Mine know the rattle of the Papaya Tablet container.

The rattle of the pellets container.

        That kitchen=food.

My BF’s bunny, Thumper, learned that the fridge held the lettuce, and would crawl INTO the fridge to get his dinner!

They refuse to learn anything useful (“Fetch, Robbie!  No, don’t chew, fetch!  Oh, never mind!”), but you can’t fool them about where food comes from (not their doting mother, but the sound/geographical location!)

All my bunnies have learned that the sound of a certain baggie opening means treats! ^_^ Then they all promptly get their lips stuck sideways in their night pen bars.

Or, as in Mimzy’s case, they grab the bars with their teeth and SHAKE! Mimzy often sticks his tongue out too and looks totally pathetic. I think he’s going for the sympathy vote as you can see below:

Hahahaha, I’ve never seen that before – bunny tongue!!!
My buns know that fridge = food and will try to merge with the fridge when I open it. They’re not afraid of slippery floors so I also often hear scratching at the fridge for treats. I just ignore it but it doesn’t go away. Bunnies are very optimistic, even when this optimism isn’t justified.

GREATS pics MM! See how round the eyes become? It’s like they’re totally addicts for treats.

I have to keep changing containers and places where I keep my bunny treats.  Jersey learns the sound too easily.  Anything that sounds like the treat container being opened and I instantly have get a fluffy tickle on my feet, look down and see big brown eyes and that “WELL?” expression!

Rofl…   Yes that first pic is a good one.  The big round eye.  Cracks me up.  Yes Cotton knows the papaya tablets sound. I shake it and he comes running. Standing on his little hind legs looking around.

Ruby well    she hasn’t gotten it yet.  Now a plastic bag opening.  Here comes Cotton again.  Oh boy.  Vegie heart cookies or those cranberry tablets from BB.  Beg Beg Beg.

He looks so funny on his shelf in his house head/mouth frantically searching between bars for that treat.  They sure learn fast about the food. I tell you.  The pellet container makes noise and here comes Cotton.

Honey Bunny is searching for treats to now. He enjoys when his lettuce comes.  When I put pellets in his dish he literally pounces on it with his front feet like the bowl is going to get away or something if he doesnt’ hold it down.  He is a trip. He loves to eat anything. Any food hay pellets lettuce. The good healthy stuff I have no problems with him eating it.

those pics are adoreable!  both my girls shove their wee noses through the nic grids trying to get at treats (or get out) too.  baby has never responded to food noises but she knows the time of day i feed her & gets all excited when i approach.  pinky is more alert (i think she hears a lot better than baby) and responds to the pellets rattling in the container, when i shake the raisin box and she goes berzerk when its greens time to the point where i re-inforced zipties on her levels just incase.  she has also apparently found the fruit bowl which now has to be locked up but has not yet figured out that the fridge contains greens.  she’s always surprising me with new discoveries tho… so i wouldn’t put it past her to figure this out some day.
