Thanks Beka, yes Mimzy eats just fine, but it’s this heavy scratching he’s doing at his right cheek and ear that bothers me, along with the purring that I fear is actually grinding and the weepy eye. Although today the eye seems fine, I wiped it with a warm water cloth and dried it for him last night, today there/s no sign of crusting.
His ears are both very clean and show no signs of infection. Although now that I think of it, lately I was wondering if he didn’t smell “off”…I can’t describe it rightly enough, but he almost smelled ‘dirty’, as if he’d been playing in something smelly. (It startled me for a moment as it almost smelled like something going bad or rotting and I meant to ask my vet about it.) Normally he doesn’t smell like anything at all, unlike my other pets, so I noticed it right away that he suddenly smelled like “something” and then the next day I think, it was gone. It went away and I haven’t smelled it since…but then I’m having sinus problems so I may not be picking it up anymore. Perhaps he just was sitting too close to the garbage bag while in the xpen that day or soemthing.
But then, I’m trying to remember, was that before or after he went in for his latest nail trim?? I would’ve thought the vet would notice it if so. See, my mnemonic skills are lacking as of late. But he doesn’t appear to be ill, I know that’s not something to rely on, but other than the scratching, the eye and the noises I haven’t noticed anything chronically wrong with him.
It was the front teeth that got clipped and I haven’t been able to invert him long enough to check them, but it wasn’t that long ago that he was seen. I can’t imagine it would be time again so quickly.
I’m hoping it’s not a molar issue, but-since my vet said if he had any further trouble we’d have to look into it-that the possibility this time is that he’d be put under to examine/treat him if necessary. Can you tell me if this is a big deal for a bunny? Any harder to deal with than his neuter? Not as hard for him? I think this is what worries me most and my vet too apparently, as she wants to avoid having to anesthetize him.
