In the Toy area I posted about the jingle toy I made. Someone asked where to find Jute and Sisal.

Around where I live I have found that Jute is available at any craft store or fabric store. We have a large chain of JoAnn Fabric Stores here that carries untreated Jute.

The sisal is actually a rope that can be found at hardwares. I found it at a large supercenter here (Meijer) in the hardware section with all of their ropes. It is untreated as well and fairly cheap.

Makes bunny toys much easier and cheaper to make on your own.

I make all of my own bun toys for pennies compared to some of the other sites that charge quite a bit. It can be fun if you have the time and patience.

Our bunnies love Sisal. We got a package of the thick stuff at a hardware store, and just weave it between the bars of their cages – instant chew toy. I tried tying a couple toys together with the thinner sisal, but Digby just gnaws the toy off and starts eating the sisal.

Wow that sounds great.  Crafty too. Great idea. We have JoAnn”s crafts here too. Hmmm. I can look around for it.

I had to go for the sisal rope – as anything thinner is too THIN and Coco bites in two like butter.

It is the basis of the “root-o-pus” I posted in the Toy Thread.

I’ll have to check that out.  We have a few straw mats and some seagrass mats but they’re going through those insanely fast.  So, pretty soon we’re going t need some more chewy stuff for them

I paid $5 for 100ft at Meijer. At the hardware store it was about the same price. I am guessing any store w/ a “hardware” area will have it in the rope area. All the ones I saw were all untreated.
