Bella is doing so much better!

She is allowing not only us to pet her, but our good friend Gaite when she comes over, and my husband’s parents all had a lovely time petting a perfectly docile bunny who even nosed them to keep petting when they stopped.

She’s letting us do this in her cage even, and has stopped being territorial about her cage. I’m impressed at how mellow she’s become, seeing as how she’s not spayed!

We’ve got a routine going, and her diet is slowly being switched over to the good Oxbow pellets, and she’s loving all the new veggies we’re trying.

She’s been doing so well in my office area, that my husband got excited and rabbit proofed the main living area of the apartment (we’ve decided our bedroom and bathroom are no bunny zones, as we like to have some personal space.)

So the last couple of days, we’ve been letting her out to explore the rest of the apartment under supervision. So far, she seems to be loving it. She’s learned her way around, though she still won’t go into the kitchen which has lineolum- I guess the change in flooring wierds her out! She’ll get all four paws on it, but won’t move. Maybe in time. lol.

She’s even started playing in the office area, nosing around balls, pillows, and some crumpled paper I keep on the floor for her to play with. When I let her out in the morning, she does a sprint circuit of the hall, her cage, and the dining room, running as fast as she can in laps! It’s something to see, and pretty funny.

I am a bit concerned about one aspect though- she’s decided that “her place” is in the forest of chair legs under the dining room table. Now, I’m cool with her being under there, but once she goes under there she won’t come out! She’ll sit under there, sometimes get to the point of lounging and stretching out, and clean herself.

However I can’t reach her under there, so when it’s time for her to “Go Home” (the words we’re using for going back to her cage) she won’t budge. Today I even just went to offer her a treat under there, and she growled at the treat and pushed my hand and the treat away- then she clawed at the treat! She won’t allow me to pet her while she’s under there either.

Is under the table becoming her new territory because we’ve been petting her in her cage and the office? I would rather she keep her cage her territory, really, and I’m wondering if anyone has any thoughts.

        Also- more pictures!

Cute pics!! If she really won’t budge from under the table it’s likely because you can’t get her and she’s quite happy with that. I’d figure out a way to get her out so she doesn’t think that’s a hands-off zone and camp out there!

Lol. It’s easy enough- all I need to do is move the chairs out.

I guess I just need to discourage her from getting too comfy there!

Glad you enjoyed the pictures- she’s got one of the most beautiful coats I’ve ever seen!

Oh yeah she likes that you can’t reach her under there.  They do like to be under stuff.  Rabbits don’t like to be in wide open space. It isn’t safe in the wild to be in open space.  Our babies still think that way.  My 2 have started doing that too.  I have to move their container of things to get to them under the table. Sneaky little brats aren’t they.  Spoilt rotten I tell ya spoilt rotten.

OH my she has big ears. Pretty color too.  I know her ears are normal size I am just used to small buns with short little ears.  I bet she can be mischevious too.  Thats great she is taking to being petted and not so shy anymore. OH enjoy it.

i love her! it really sounds like she’s doing great! my Meadow will always go under the dining room table too. i agree with KokaneeandKahlua and bunnytowne… they just like to hide and relax where they won’t be disturbed. i guess it’s part of their prey instinct coming into play…

I let Honey out to run around(I’m also in a little apartment) and sometimes I forget about closing the bedroom door. She always makes a b-line for the bedroom, and goes right under the bed. You wouldn’t believe the growling and spitting that comes from that bunny when I try and get her out! I’ve been having the same problem.

All I’ve been doing is blocking the area.

                    Goodluck, shes adorable ^_^

Right on! She is settling in really well.

I have a very low “sushi” dining table. Under it and under my new papasan chairs are my buns favorite “hang out” spots. they spend most of the day there.
Does she have some cardboard boxes in your office where she can hide? Buns love boxes – just cut a couple of doors in them.

Most of us reefer to those “laps” that she runs in the morning as the “Bunny 500”. Winston is a big bunny 500 runner. Normally, I just get to hear it. When I walk in the room he acts like nothing is going on here! Ha, ha, so cute.

lol! Yes, I love the laps.

She’s gone back to being pretty antisocial and wanting to hang out in just her cage the last couple of days. My husband’s convinced she’s “PMSing” since she isn’t spayed. lol. I’m not so sure about that, but I think we’re adjusting okay.

I don’t have any boxes for her- but next time I go to the grocery I will see if I can get one for her to use. Those scattered around might be enjoyable for her.
