So this morning my husband and I were trying to catch a few minutes more of sleep before we had to get up.  My daughter comes in and says “Tucker got out, I’ll just shut the gate so the dogs don’t come down” and Mike said “oh ok good sounds good” and I thought “oh mike says ok” and went back to sleep.  Then about 20 minutes later I was getting up for work and I said to Mike “did Shaina just say Tucker was out??” and he goes “huh? what? oh I don’t think so”.  So I went downstairs and I saw bunny poop all over the stairs, in the foyer all down the hallway and I was sure she was out.  I hear RIP RIP RIP!!  Yep she was out and she was behind the couch of course pulling up carpet like crazy.  I looked back there and there was like an 8 inch by 2 inch strip of bare non carpet back there….gah!!  She heard my voice and came running up to me like “hi mommy!!  I’ve been playing!”  Luckily she didn’t chew up the vacuum cord that was laying all over the floor.  She did however eat through the phone cord that was stapled along the wall behind the bunny condo.  Chewed it up into like 4 pieces.  Luckily it wasn’t used anymore and was disconnected from everything so there was no safety issue…just a broken huge cord.

Apart from the destruction part, that was a funny story! lol  How did she get out?

She pretty much scaled the side of her pen…something that she hasn’t EVER been even close to being able to do before.  She sat on her shelf and perched herself diagonally over to the wall of the pen which is about 3 inches away from the actual wall.  She then launched herself up and over the wall of the pen so that she was able to scurry herself out of there.   So, we attached an extra NIC grid so that she can’t do it again.

Drue had done the same thing last week.  But when Drue did it he was too big and got himself stuck between the pen and the wall and got himself so freaked out that he  just sat there until I bent the grids backwards and scooped him out.  I think she learned it from him though.   And this morning he was just flopped out watching her run around like “I had NOTHING to do with this”…. Oh but he did!! he did.  Little stinker.   And she’s funny now when she got back into her pen she ran over to the common wall where she can be near Drue and he came racing down and she went and acted like she wanted to cuddle up and hide by him.  He however, was mainly there because he figured morning….human…must mean breakfast!

Luckily the spot that she chewed up was far behind the couch.  And, she had destroyed so many other spots in the past anyway that we need to replace the carpet eventually anyway and for now it’s covered by the couch.

He’s not mad really since it was Tucker..now had it been Drue..that’d be a different story lol.  But Tucker has him so bunny whipped that he was just glad she was ok from being out almost all night.   Drue’s really gotta learn that if he wants to get away with murder he’s gotta start coming to the side of the cage and begging for pets every time that Mike is in sight lol or running up and climbing his leg when he’s out.

I have no doubt that Drue actually showed Tucker how to get out of the pen – and then just sat back and watched all the fun!
