Olivia has a baby blankie that she loves to sleep on. I want to get one for Bindi and Stormy too so they can have a nice soft bed but I’m worried because they are both big time chewers (Bindi permanently disabled a brand new weather forecast alarm clock that had yet to see 24 hours in my house this weekend). Do your buns chew up blankets? I’m worried they will chew them and create a blockage. Should I just give them a blanket and check on them every few hours? I want my babies to be snuggwy, lol

Fern only chews them if they are tied to the edges of the cage, she does not eat it. She digs it and rips it though…..
If I put a loose blanket in it would not get damaged too much, but MAN you should see the one tied to the cage it is really RIPPED TO SHREDS!

Our bunny Mr. Puddles has a blanket. Mostly he just digs in it and nudges it around. Thank goodness he is not normally a chewer.

I would just try one out and watch closely to see what happens.

Hammer just digs in it. He did have a pee problem on it but just once. He actually prefers his rugs to his blankets though

Tucker LOVES blankies.  She loves to lay on them and bunch them up and sit over it, kind of like a pillow for her tummy.  I made her fleece ones because she doesn’t pull at fleece and they’re easy to clean.

Drue can’t stand them and will push them completely away from his lounging area.  He WILL however lounge on towels.  I guess soft fleece blankies aren’t manly enough!

Edson prefers his beach towel over anything else!  Tried a nice soft baby comforter once and he hated it. He sometimes rearranges it but never chews it.

Kay & Winston have a couple of “Whisker City” Cat Mats – they are thin, but soft and fuzzy, about 12 x 20 inches.

Kay likes to lay on them. Winston constantly digs, smooths them out, moves them with his teeth, turns them into forts and then digs and smooths them out again.

I have had these mats for about 8 months – not a single tear or scratch. I think they are indestructible!

I’m gonna have to buy them some blankies then! I have a feeling Stormy will have fun bunching it, that’s what he does with any clothes that are on the floor.

Rabbitsmba – what a cute blog!

Sorry to hear about little Boo. I’m sure his bunny family – and you & hubby – miss him.

Awww thanks Sage Cat. We miss Boo SO much! But he was a happy and healthy hamster who never knew a day of illness in his life – he died in his sleep at a ripe old age. He and Fluffy were great friends and he is sadly missed by us all.

Mine chew up old towels and LOVE it, chewy, diggy, push and tug toy. They chew little holes out of them but do not eat them. If your bun chew it, make sure they are not ingesting it. If you do see them ingesting too much, then it is best to take it away. Opt for 100% cotton and not synthetics, which should pass through easier if ingested. Also, try a plain old paper grocery sack, that will also satisfy chewing but again, if they eat too much, take it away and limit the quality time they have with it.

Fiver has those checkered pads and a faux lamb’s fur cuddly cup from PETCO in his pen. I thought for sure he’d decimate them, but he is quite comfy on them. In fact, I pulled them up to clean the bottom of his pen today and he began slipping all over the floor and had to jump into the willow hay basket to steady himself. Poor thing!
However, if I let him out on a beach towel, he’ll wait till I’m not looking and then begin tearing it up.
Mimzy used to have a spare piece of cloth over his cage at night, but when I found that he preferred to be able to watch me from his shelf, I stopped putting it on. He doesn’t seem to miss it. Couldn’t do that with Pip, she eats anything.

Both Mim & Pip will pee on fake lamb’s wool items. I don’t even bother giving them cuddlies anymore, they just don’t appreciate them.

Yes, many! Chuck has a full size blankie for playing on the couch, and they all get towels to snuggle with (so my towels all look like swiss cheese…embarassing a bit at the gym!! LOL )

Rabbitsmba – that blog about blankets, those “taunting” blankets – HAHAHHA!! LMAO!

My very first rabbit would exhaust himself moving blankets around. Bailey used to lie on them, but she’d also pee all over them too.
Jack will sometimes chew on it, but he’ll lie on it or curiously enough, lie on the edge of it – if it’s thick enough, he’ll use it to lean against.
Rucy loves to be on blankets. She may dig at it to get it all perfect for herself, but she loves soft cushy places to hang out. Neither Jack or Rucy pee on them. That’s nice.

Jessica used to have a piece of red ribbon that she loved to chew on, she would drag it with her where ever she would go in the house.

Teddy loves to lay on blankets… but he also loves to pee on them so I finally decided to just give up and not leave one with him. He is also sooo “litter trained” that he will pee in anything that even slightly resembles a box! So the only container-like item I can have in his area (well, my whole apartment actually) are the litter boxes!!!

Olivia pees on hers occasionally, but I figure, it’s her blankie, if she wants to pee on it that’s up to her. I usually wash it once a week though so it doesn’t get too gross.
