anyone else have a a messy bunny?

every week i clean up hershey’s cage, make it all nice and neat…and in a few hours she has ripped the place apart!

the floor has 2 layers of lino, followed by newspaper. in her hidy box she has shredded paper and hay, and on top of the box is a towel.

anyway i know bunny’s love to rip things up so i guess its understandable that she rips up the newspaper on the floor. is there any other type of material we can use for the floor? we put newspaper on the bottom so its not so slippery and incase of any accidents …but its seems like she’s trying to dig herself out of the cage!

we had peices of carpet there while she was getting better from her spay – to make her more comfy..but as soon as she’s back to normal she started to eat the carpet…so we had to remove it.

Mine do that with newspaper too. What I would suggest would be a diggy box for the newspaper and then maybe seagrass mats, straw mats, a cloth rug, something of that sort to make it not slippery.

Also, my one bun does fine on linoleum. It doesn’t seem to bother me and she actually seems to have pretty good traction. I’m not sure about the new bun..he’s not been on much linoleum yet.

my bun is messy, but I don’t try to keep the cage organized (clean as in sanitary, but not clean as in organized) because she plays more when there’s stuff everywhere.

well i removed the newspaper from half the floor and left it just lino, she seems ok with that and it looks less messy.

Well we can look around for a riding vaccuum for your bun.  Think that would help.  Yeah I could just picture that.  You come home Bun did you clean your room today?  How was that new vaccuum…

I got bored with cleaning up shredded newspaper, and now both my buns have old towels on the bottoms of their pens. It’s softer, and cleaner (no green paws from the vegetalbe-dye on the newspaper!). I vacuum it, and wash it regularly. Of course, my bunnies aren’t big chewers… They initially dug, but I told them “No”, and sprayed them with water-bottles a couple of times, and they gave up. It was really too easy…
