Okay, since another member brought up in a different thread the contents of litter pellets, it got me thinking…do you know your litter used for your bunny is safe? Non-toxic? No hidden impurities? (Other than what your bunny deposits in it, that is.)

I am trying to Google the brand I use, Good Mews, but I’m not getting any kind of official list of ingredients or processing information. There is some questino as to the quality of paper in some litters (“not suitable to use for [writing] paper”-well what exactly does that mean??) and since another thread was discussing companies that test chemicals in their products on animals-and I was shocked to see how many actually do-I want to be sure I am not exposing my bunnies to some hidden toxin.

I was surprised to hear that the contents of most CAT litters contain a known carcinongen! I need to switch my cats over, quick!

Could someone help me out here? Considering that our bunnies spend a good deal of their lives in the litter box, I want to be sure there’s nothing wonky in the stuff they’re squatting on.

        Many thankies in advance! ^_^

The only litter that I have heard complaints about is Yesterday’s News. People find all kinds of metal and plastic bits in the pellets, presumably from the recycled waste stream. For me, if my bunnies actually ate the litter I’d be very concerned about what is inside, but since all mine do in the litter box is their business and walk through it, I am not so concerned.
