Hey im sick or my allergies are acting up due to the hurricane winds coming through here. Im all stuffed up and my throat is sore so i thought id run a humidifier. Is that ok with Hammer? He is in my room so i just wondered if it could somehow affect him. I dont know why it would but rather safe then sorry!

I would think an air purifier would work better? Do you mean a de-humidifier? To get rid of extra moisture? I would think that both would be good for both of you after hurricanes…. Humidifier’s are usu. better for really dry winter conditions so I’m not sure what to advice…

If you are trying to get some mist in your sinuses to feel better, like we did as kids with a vaporizer, you can use either a cool mist humidifier or vaporizer that’s directed toward your head rather than steaming up the room in general. If it’s cool, it’s not a big deal for a bunny. Only if you heat up the room will it be much of a problem, like on a hot day, but I am not certain so someone correct me if I’m wrong.

It’s better for your bunny for you to feel well.

Do you have a script for Nasonex and zyrtec or clarinex or something?  If not I would get one tho I don’t know what your situation is like at this time.  I have an air purifier a hepa filter in the bedroom. It helps. I have to take out the filters and get the dirt out now n then and buy new ones when they are shot.

I dont’ know anything about humidifiers and such.

My allergies were so bad even with meds I could hardly breathe. My face would swell up etc.  I took shots for 4 years and the meds work for me now.  Allergies can make  you feel just horrible.  All that wind that came here and rains brought us pollen too. ick.

Hi Bunnyliz, I don’t think a humidifier is really going to help allergies, it may just make it worse. Have you thought about an air purifier instead? I am wondering though are you intending to use any menthol-type products in the humidifier to help clear your sinuses? Then it might not be a good idea if you are, but there isn’t harm to running one around a rabbit.
