i have a question regarding post nueter. Moreland was doen almost two weeks ago. i got him on his back yesteday and was examining his areas and where his ” balls were” the skin is just flappy its all healed up but just two little flaps like ear lobes? is this normal. also they said they used disolvible sutres however it looked like there was kind of a string in there. it wasnt like wire just like a string like cloth string? he doesnt sit on anything that could be string? is this normal? i called the vet and they said it was but i dont understand the flaps? do they go away or just stay there?

posted this on post neuter thread but no replys. just curious as im simi freaking out!

The testicles do shrink eventually so that does sound normal to me.

I’m not certain about the string thing you are talking about though…I’m not totally understanding the description.

Yup, although my boys were neutered before I owned them, I’ve been able to see lots of post-spay and post-neuter rabbits at the humane society. They sort of have flaps but they shrink later

The string sounds like the stitches. If you want you can snap a pic (ok, all our bunnies have had to suck it up and bare their private parts on this forum sooner or later ) and post here, and we can all bear in with our opinions.

                Hi there,

Our vet told us that the flaps were his scrotum more or less. He doesn’t remove this because the skin is so thin that it might tear when

stitching it closed. But yes, after time this skin does shrink….. Hope that helps

yes the flaps are normal that is where the insides used to be.  The vet just removed the insides. The skin is left alone. Well stitched or glued. They heal

I observed a neuter when I was w/ the ex (vet tech).  It’s as if the inside of a ball is removed from the skin.  Just sucked right out!
