        AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

        nt_snow
        Saturday Night
Cloudy. Chance of rain and snow. Lows around 35. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

It’s too gruesome! They said THE “S” WORD! *runs and hides*

I know it won’t stick. But still, the first flakes are the worst. And the next ones. And the next… And so on….

        >.<

Okay, just WHO talked me into moving to Alaska again?? >_> *shoots dirty looks at hubby*

Good question, Mimzmum! How did you end up in Alaska? Are you from CA? I know you mentioned you used to live here at some point…

I was born in So. Cal. I’ve seen snow fall exactly twice. It was very neat, and it was early in the season in Washington DC, so it melted as it fell, and I’m perfectly okay with that being the extent of my snow-experience!

          I don’t think I could handle Alaska…

I’m awfully Alaska-illiterate. I have this bizarre conglomeration of National Geographic we’re-destroying-the-environment stories (they seem to have an article every other month about how we’re killing Alaska!) next to the old TV show “Northern Exposure” in my head. I’m sure neither is at all accurate!

It was super chilly last night, I woke up freezing and completely wrapped in blankets, my bf was somehow still hot.

I wish it’d snow here!  I’m waiting on it.  But its gonna be in the 70s all week

              Great for bike riding though

I also woke up to frost this morning. Yuck!!! I heard it’s supposed to be an early winter here and similar to last year (where we literally had at least one snowstorm a week). The snow was almost to our roof most of the winter. Not looking forward to that again.

It would actually be nice to have a change or weather on occasion here. The only thing lately is increases in average temperatures

Really, Rachel? It’s so nice up here today! I’ve been loving it all day…it’s FINALLY not too hot, and the skies are BLUE, and the breeze is just a bit cool…like it might actually be fall soon…but I think there’s at least one more barbecue-weekend left!

Are you in San Diego proper, or elsewhere in the county? My BF lived in Escondido until recently, and it was DISMAL 110 hot all summer (which was why I flipped out about his mother’s leaving Thumper and Flower outside in little cages alone for days on end…)! He just moved to San Marcos, and apparently that little move makes a lot of difference temperature-wise! (I’m 3 blocks from the water here in Long Beach, so I’m spoilt. But Long Beach isn’t a real beach, it’s a port with some sand to collect the ship-debris, so don’t be too mad at me! I still have to drive 20 minutes to the OC if I want a real beach.)

San Marcos has a nice canyon that ferrets the breezes from the water down into the town, doesn’t it? Or am I thinking of somewhere else?

I am a Bay Are baby. I was born in Alameda, then adopted by my grandfather and his second wife, the only two people I ever knew as mom and dad. I did not know I was adopted until I was 18.
Lived in Woodside/Redwood City and Los Altos, both on the peninsula. I used to love taking trips into San Francisco, my dad had an office there. I can navigate SF with my eyes shut, but put me in L.A. and I’m hopelessly lost! >.<

I moved to Alaska because my hubby was born here and he felt it was the best place to raise children. I had just lost my dad/grandfather a few years before and technically had no family left there, so I decided it was a good move. Now the first few years I was terrified, but now, I can’t really imagine living anywhere else. Alaska has a specialness to it that really hooks you. Like a good salmon! xD

I think Alaska will be in the spotlight a lot more now that Sarah Palin is McCain’s running mate. That may be good or not so good for our state. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Hey Loppy! ^_^ *tosses you a blanket* How’s the baby bunnehs??

I’ll try to suss out some of my photos of our local area. Mind, I am a CRAPPY photographer and the pix always come out looking terrible, but hopefully you can enjoy them. Will definitely take some of the s…s…..stuff, when it falls. *can’t say the word* :X

I’m in Chula Vista, a bit south of the city of SD. It’s technically desert but it’s been super hot on campus at SDSU lately. It’s more eastward.

Well we were SUPPOSED to have s…sss…that wicked white stuff by this morning, but the weatherman was wrong again. *big surprise* But it’s been pretty cold here today, so if it rains tonight I am sure we’ll see a dusting by morning. >.<

Bleah! Why couldn’t the hubby have been born in Tahiti?
