My 1st question ever put to the BB forum was: what breed(mix) is my bunny?  Well I think I’ve finally narrowed it down.

American Flemish Cross (possibly with mini lop with bit of english spot thrown in). Don’t know much about Flemmies.  Is there only the giant variety?

I sent pic to breeder/rescuer I’ve been in contact with lately and she thought American Flemish cross with something small.  Then today I saw Priscilla of Hoppy Endings Rabbit Rescue (see Rescue Section) and she’s a flemmie/mini lop cross.  2 Flemmish pointers in one day is enough to have me convinced.

        Just thought I’d share

My understanding is Flemmies are big, but if yours is a mix, then who knows what parts are what. From the picture in your avatar, those ears look giant.

Actually she looks alot like Priscilla (my other thread, in rescue bunnies…’hoppy endings rabbit crew and she’s a flemish mini lop cross. So that makes sense. Her ears really look flemish though!

Flemish Giants are very large and I would imagine that they are rarely bred with other rabbits on purpose since they are such a large breed unless they are bred with another large rabbit.

As far as mixed breeds I think unless you truly know the mother and father rabbit you cannot truly know what the breed is – it’s just a guess unless of course there are some very distinguished markings and then really it’s only a guess too. It could even be possible that the parents are mixed breeds as well.

Honestly I would not worry what breed she is since it’s not important really. I know it’s hard not to be curious though :~)

I will 2nd the flemmie thing.  The huge humongous ears.  They are big those flemmies. If bred with another big bun your bun could be at the lower weight range for flemmies.  Well enjoy your cute bun.

It’s funny what you said Sarita because what I know of Flemmies is they can grow to 20lbs! So when I thought Flemmie X mini lop…….ummm?????
I think the lady said that because of the ears. The avatar is a baby pic so her ear/body proportions are askew. It is a curiosity thing!!

However she is mixed – pure perfection.
