My son brought me this rock he’d found yesterday. It was so weird, the whole thing is scored and striated like someone put it together using pieces of silly putty or something.

Can YOU see the bunny? ^_^

Well now, that rock should be in a museum. A drawing from a prehistoric cave bunny is what that is! Not sure how they went about it but it’s rumored they either scribed with their nails (as they didn’t get monthly trims back then) or they held a piece of natural crystal in their teeth and worked away on the design for weeks.

MM, did your son sight the bun then bring rock home or were you first to see it?
                p.s. Cool avatar!

I agree with jerseygirl’s idea that it is a prehistoric cavedweller’s bunny art. However, they did not have tools for carving rock back then – instead they would use natural acidic elements to burn random patterns onto surfaces to create hidden images. This one clearly used the favored method of swilling vinegar in the mouth and spitting on the rock.

rabbitpam: … 0_o; Kind of like that creature on Star Trek? The Horta? Burned “No Kill I” into the rocks with it’s acid…whatever? lolz….

jerseygirl: lolz…Clan of the Cave Bun…wasn’t that a novel? I saw the bunny in it first. My boy just likes to gather rocks and he often shows them to me. Oddly enough, we own a small museum here full of Alaskan historical memoribilia. ^_^

                        knowltons: Oh stop it! xD

LPT: My son is going to be 19 in a few months and my daughter is 16. Even he likes the bunnies so much he is always trying to find something to help with on them. He’s not the best with animals, used to chase squirrels with the dog when he was little and I would rail him for it, but he’s showing a softer side around them. He’s the one who wants a ferret really bad.

Rachel: Me? Bunny on the brain? Hm…whom here is not guilty of that, I wonder? *giggles over cute pix of Frankie posted hither and yon*
