Have you checked out the bunny proofing tips here?

          https://www.binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/BunnyProofingYourHome/tabid/61/Default.aspx

I go back to these first, and then come back to fine tune the ideas for my rabbit.

Nothing is 100%, but these are a good place to start. Often, I find, it is a matter of out “thinking” the rabbit – finding the motivation behind the behavior and providing redirection REPEATEDLY.

chewing is related to boredom and hormones (if unaltered). if it’s not hormones, just boredom, try redirecting to other acceptable things to chew, or close off access/cover the areas where the chewing is happening. close supervision will be necessary as well. tell us more about your set-up, are they caged, free-roam?

What I do is try to find the chew hot spots and block those off from her.  Most time’s it’s in the corner by furniture that either she CAN’T get under or that is hard for her to get under.  I believe (thinking like a bunny) that she’s trying to burrow through to make a deeper space to get there.  She also does this when her x-pen is blocking her from an area that she wants to get to…my thinking is that she’s trying to burrow under it.  Silly rabbit..doesn’t she know there’s subflooring underneath??  LOL

So, I completely block off the areas that she tries to get under (I can’t let her in the whole living room area currently since the couch looks so inviting to her and she rips up the carpet surrounding her.  So I block that half of the room off.  I have furniture in here area that there’s no way she could get under and that seems to deter her.  (so far)  Last night she pulled up some carpet because she wanted her x-pen opened to the kitchen..and I didn’t feel like doing that since it was getting late lol.  I put her in bunny time out and just put her in the pen (that is plywood bottom with vinyl tiling on top) for the rest of the night, it was only like an hour early but I have a bad cold and I didn’t feel like putting up with carpet chewing last night.

Hi Rachelmathis1 and Welcome to Binkybunny.

For the really bald spots, you can (scroll down on the bunnyproofing link they posted above) cut small squares of carpet out of an inconspicious area like a closet and then cut the bald spot out, glue the square you took out of the carpet down.

For your damage deposit, my bunny chewed an Epic bald spot in my apartment but they’d just replaced the carpet when I moved in and were unlikely to replace it again. When it came time to get my deposit back, I told them they could certainly deduct me for the damage, but I’d need a receipt that the carpet was replaced in that suite (as they have to by law)….I got my full deposit back
Another suggestion, only if you have the cash and time-ask for permission to remove the carpet and lay down lino, it takes an afternoon for one room and you could probably lino it for about a hundred bux…That could save your damage deposit….

Carpet chewing-you can block the area off (Gate the area, or put something over trouble spots)
Behaviorally address it-squirt them with water and yell no, and/or clap your hands if they chew-also give them more toys and chew things re; phonebooks, toilet paper rolls, wood chews, shredded paper, cardboard boxes
Make the area un-tasty spray with vinegar or perfume.

Let us know how it goes!!
