lol. It didnt take long for hammer but different personalities mean different reactions. As soon as i got hammer he was VERY VERY scared. But on the long car ride home he cuddled under blankets on my lap so when we got home he toke to me. He was still scared but not of me. He was cautious about his cage, my room, every sound and me but he let me pet him. It toke about a week for him to be comfortable with me though.In about two weeks he was jumping up in my lap and demanding pets and nose rubs! i dont think you should worry yet ; )

Ok I know you dont’ want to hear this but   it will take a little bit.  Try having a treat of her fav food.  A piece of raising or something.  In your case maybe take her out of her cage and offer the treat.  Keep lying there You have the right idea.  oh darn phones.

my bun was the same way for a while…. i’ve had her for 5 months and she’s still coming around, becuase right when she was finally starting to love me as much as i love her, i went and got her spayed… not a good way to make friends…. but i know it will be better for her in the long run! keep up the patience and good work, your bun will come around soon!! hopefully your patience won’t ware out before then

Hehe I don’t think you should worry, it takes time. I understand your impatience, but remember, a well looked after healthy bun lives 8-12 years, so you have loads of time

it’s important for you to understand the nature of rabbits.  they are not like dogs or cats (mostly dogs) where they show affection in a very obvious way.  it’s likely that she will never like to be held, so it’s necessary to accept her for the way she is.  i have had my new bunny for just over 3 months, and he will bump me with his nose, but will not allow pets just yet, so it does take time.  ignoring her and letting her explore will show her that you’re not a threat. 

Great advice so far. I have one thing to add – Try Treats. Bribery works wonders. Now with that said, especially with young bunnies you want to be careful and not give them things that are too sugary. How old is she again? If she’s really young, and can’t even have greens yet, then just feed her some of her pellets, alfalfa hay, or alfalfa/timothy treats. If she’s older and can have greens, try to entice her with mint, rosemary, even small tiny tiny slices of carrots. See the Diet section to find out what is okay for what age.

i thought she said she’s 8 weeks old in another thread, so she can start introducing some veggies slowly.

When we first got Tucker I put her in a hallway.  I let her be in the hallway and I only went into it when I had to use the bathroom which was in the hallway or if I needed to feed her.  That was the first day.  The second day I got in the hallway and just sat down and read a magazine.  She would come near me but if I put my hand out she’d run away.   The next day I did the same thing but that day she let me pet her for a few seconds.  It took a few weeks of this before we got to the point where she’d sit and let me pet her for as long as I wanted.  Even now she’ll have off days where she wants nothing to do with me.

My little buns were very shy when I adopted them, it took about a month before I could really pet them.
they started to give me “little bunny head butts” after about 2 weeks – to my buns this means “Hi, what’s going on?”

Just this morning, Kay allowed my husband to pet her while she was totally lounged (her belly exposed) for the first time! We got them in February. He was pretty excited about it.

Before you know it she will be binking and flopping all over the place!
