I’ve been in Wisconsin for four weeks now, and still haven’t really made any new friends. Sure, some might think I’m becoming a home body, but, in all reality, I think it’s great–I get to spend sooo much time with Addy!
He still has the need to pee on me and spray me whenever he’s excited, which is much frowned upon, but I’m learning the signs and mostly just never let him on my lap if he’s been honking at me.
We have him set up in the basement of the apartment too, which is where I usually sit with him, so if he does happen to go anyway, the cement is an easy clean-up. The fun part is when I let him out to run around and come upstairs to the living room, and he follows me a couple minutes later… Of course, when my sister was home, I had to tell him to go back down; he’d be sooo cute going one step at a time or sometimes just sitting at the top stair, looking at me like “Are you serious? I just got up here!” I had a talk with Sis though, so as long as he doesn’t pee on anything up here, he can come up for visits.
He’s shedding like mad now and has his cage’s top floor carpet completely lined with fur…which is near impossible to vaccuum with the hose attachment. Anyway, I’ve been brushing him and using a “love glove” and now the grass around the front porch has a nice white lining. I think I cut his tail with the Furminator though…I feel so awful.
And he’s just the sweetest little bunny, didn’t get mad or anything, just pulled his tail up so I looked to see what was wrong. I just feel so blessed I didn’t get a bunny that communicates through nips. I almost got a bunny phobia because the rabbit at my boyfriend’s house HATES me…probably because I smell like Addy… He bites me, and he took a chunk out of my cell phone even. And, if my boyfriend’s been around me, he gets nipped too. Yeah, I’ll take pee over biting anyday.
So as I was saying about Wisconsin! I live in Stevens Point right now and about seventeen blocks away in a neighboring town is this great park with a river that has a beach. Even better than buying Addy a sandbox, I say. The first day I went to check it out without Addy, there were people everywhere and a family playing fetch with their dog in the water. The park itself is gorgeous, and the beach is in a section that is pretty much seperated from other parts by bridges. When I took Addy to the park the next day, we had the whole place to ourselves (excluding some boys who came later to fish). He binkied across the beach, and dug in the sand, and came up to the water to check stuff out. We ended the day sitting on the cement sidewalky thing on the edge of the river, and I discovered how much Addy totally loves head rubs. He also loves staring down at the water from the …sidewalky thing… which makes me scared he’s thinking about jumping in.
Sidenote: There is a lady that comes and tosses seed out for the park animals, and she likes to give Addy some. I was wondering if there’s a polite way to explain that it’s unhealthy for a bunny to be eating lots of seeds. I’m just afraid of trying to sound superior or something, because she loves bunnies and I’m pretty sure she’s raised them before and stuff. I just don’t want Addy eating something bad for him if I can help it.
Today at the beach was really fun too! Pretty much the same stuff as the first time (this was the third time, as the second visit wasn’t very fun). But today, Addy flopped next to me on the sidewalky thing three times while he was getting head rubs. ….I love that bunny.
