So I have two male bunnies, both under 6 months old. One I have had for several months already and is pretty bonded to me already. The other has just been given to me within the last two weeks, it was a rescued bun. My first bunny is very outgoing, loves playing with the cat and exploring. The other one is shyer, probably still settling in.
Anyway I let the new one settle in to his own cage, and the last two days, I tried two 15 minute bonding sessions between my two buns. As of right now, neither one is neutered (I wasn’t expecting this other bunny to come into my life). I am planning on at least getting my first bunny neutered. In the meantime, should I keep them totally separated? My first bunny can hop around my room freely and sniff the cage of the other bunny. The problem is that there is nonstop mounting (my first one always going after my new one). It doesn’t seem to be a dominance thing and the new bunny doesn’t fight back but sometimes hops away. It seems more like my bunny just goes into hormonal overdrive! Any advice about how to proceed would be much appreciated.
