        Hi, All!

So, for the past 10 days, Lizzy and I have been staying in a hotel room in Ventura with our friend Becca (who is actually the person who, when I mentioned, “I’m looking into getting a rabbit,” said, “Oh, my friend works for a rabbit rescue!  Why don’t you call her?!”–and 3 days later, Lizzy was mine!), who was also working on the show.

Meanwhile, Robbie the park bunny had spent all of 5 days with me before I gave him to the wonderful people at the Bunny Bunch to board for 10 days (twice as long as I’d had the poor guy!).

Lizzy enjoyed getting territorial over the space under the beds…

and probably scaring the bejeesus out of the maids when they came to clean our room…(they probably scared her too…we left a note not to vacuum, but who knows..!?)

I, of course, spent the entire time telling Becca about the joys of bunny-slavery.  Becca is a cat and bird and fish person, but has never had a bunny.  Lizzy accomodated my efforts at converting Becca by binkying whenever she was let out of her pen, obeying Becca better than me, and only chewing through 1 pair of Becca’s inappropriately strappy shoes (I told her she should wear something more sensible to work…or to be around bunnies!).  And then I hinted mercilessly that Lizzy’s twin sister Emily (I have a picture of the 2 of them, and honestly can’t tell which of the 2 is Lizzy!) is still at the rescue, needing a home…  Becca claims that I have trained her to be a FABULOUS bunny-sitter for the next time I have to go out of town, but that she’s not ready for slavery yet.  We’ll see!  I still have hopes!

So Lizzy and I got home at 3am this morning/last night, and after 10 days of binkying and bossing us around, but not being comfortable enough to really relax, she did one circle of the living room, assured herself that all was as she left it, and then hopped into her hutch, did a spectacular FLOP, and went to sleep!  All is now right in Lizzy-dom!

Meanwhile, I was really sad to leave Robbie behind, but knew he was still too much of a wild thing to be dragging him all over the state.  He was perfectly well-cared-for at the Bunny Bunch, but I was sure he wouldn’t recognize me at all when I went to get him.  I’d only had him for 5 days, after all, and they kept him for 10.  So I tortured the poor thing when I went to collect him, and picked him up and gave him a hug (much squirming on his part…but less than Lizzy would have done!).

Got him home, and he nosed around his pen, like, “hmmm, this seems familiar…”  He mowed through his greens, and checked out his toys, and wandered into the hallway (his pen takes up the entire “laundry room”, which has no laundry machines, but was basically a closet for me, until Robbie took it over.  When I let him out, he has the hallway as a place to roam.  The other side of the hallway door is Lizzy-land, and off-limits for the time-being.).  I sat on the ground with him, and fed him some parsley.

And then he wandered to the end of the hallway and did a very cute lounge..

(The beach towels are because I have all hard-wood floors.  I’m a sneaky human.  Lizzy HATES the slippery-slidey floors, and stays on the rugs…she has effectively bunny-proofed my apartment herself, by refusing to leave the rugs!  I’m hoping I can get Robbie to buy into the same behavior, rather than teaching Lizzy to roam, once the two of them are bonded…  If you think bunnies are the only sneaky ones, you’re wrong!)

And when Robbie got bored, he went back to his pen, paused for a bit, and then did a very small little straight-up-in-the-air popcorn-style binky!  His very first in my house!  I hope that means he remembers me and is happy to be home!

More random pics.  If you look at Robbie’s eye, you can see the scars from his life as a wild thing.  Poor guy…  (And yay!  There are no fleas in sight!  That’s a nice change!)

        Yay for being home!

            Aww, thanks, Rachel!

BF said the same thing about Robbie. I just see those poor sad beat-up eyes and STILL want to cry, the poor dear. But they don’t seem to hurt him, so I guess he’s okay. He’s shedding (Lizzy, too, the little beasties! Why they have to shed going into Autumn is beyond me!), so hopefully all the residual grime will shed out…

Everytime I saw him eating when he was wild in the park, he was gnawing on dead leaves. I don’t know how he survived. But he does love his greens, now!

He’s a sweetie. I’m glad to be home with him and Miss Lizzy again!

Gosh he is beautiful! ^_^ And Lizzy…lolz! What a diva bunny! I think I know someone just like her! *pokes Pip*

I just don’t know how you folks do it, this traveling with bunnies deal. I think it’s wonderful that some buns can manage it, but I can’t see any of mine taking to it well.
This Bunny Bunch sounds like a first-rate setup. Are they the same ones who furnish some of the things in the Binky store?

Ahhh…Ventura. Years ago when hubby & I lived in CA, we visited friends who lived there in a little white adobe house right down from the main pier. We came very close to settling there originally, it’s a great place!

Glad you are all home safe and sound and flea-less! ^_^

I love the hotel setup for Lizzy. Yes, I agree, Robbie does look better since the last pics. He is very cute. I’m so glad you have him and he’s safe now.

My rabbits also hate hardwood floors. When they binky in the living room I have to cover the floor with throws or they just sit and stare. Especially Bindi, he has huge furry feet and he looks like he’s trying to ice skate on my floors! It looks pretty funny, but he doesn’t find it amusing!

MM, I really enjoyed Ventura. Wish I’d had more time to explore!

The Bunny Bunch is a great place. They’re a local (45 minutes away from me, but commuting is a fact of life in So. Cal…as I’m sure you remember!) rescue organization, that also has a wonderful shop, and they do boarding and grooming and special events. I fell in love with at least 4 bunnies they have up for adoption when I dropped off Robbie, and when I came back, one was already adopted!

Their founder, Caroline, also does bunny-bonding, and she said when I’m ready to bond Lizzy and Robbie, I can take the two of them in, and she’ll do the iniitial introduction there, and give me some pointers, and send them home with me in the same carrier (hee, hee! 45 minute commute to torture them into liking each other!), for free! And it’s good to know that if I completely flub up their bonding, I can take them to her, and she’ll keep them for 10 days (for a fee, of course), and fix my botched-bonding-job. I love having fall-back plans! (She said she recently bonded a herd of 12 rabbits together for someone! Can you imagiine?! She said she was rather disappointed, actually, because it was supposed to be 13, but one bun was just a stinker and hated everything and everyone. I dunno…I’m still impressed by the 12!)

What a cutie pie he is. His coat looks really nice and shiny now. Bunny hugs to him from Beeslee!

Wow this is the bun who was captured from the park? Awe of course he remembers you. They do have good memories and recognize people whom they have known.  What a lucky bunny. Glad he got caught. You were the one who caught him right? I remember a post about a bunny being loose and finally being caught I thought maybe it was yours?

HE reminds me of a kid slurping up  spaghetti in that pic of him eating the parsley  Ahaaa.

Aww, thanks, Beka!  That means a lot, coming from you!  *blush*

I’ll try to remind Miss Lizzy of that.  She thought that she was rid of Robbie, since he didn’t come to Ventura with us.  Now she KNOWS he’s back, even though she can’t see him, and is steadfastly refusing to speak to me.  She comes to the edge of her domain and sits there giving me the stinkeye as I sit in the hallway talking to Robbie.  Apparently, if I were a GOOD bunny-mom, I wouldn’t have brought this DISTRACTION into her domain.  Sigh.

Well if this Caroline can bond twelve buns, I am sure even Diva-Liz-cious and Sir Robbie will be no challenge for her! ^_^

Wow, wish we had a rescue up here who did that kind of thing…I’d like to give that a try with my gang of three. Since I stink at bonding.
