okay, so I’ve read some body langage sites and they talk a lot about ear positions… but what about lops and other bunnys with hanging ears?  do they have a completely different body langage? Because aside from lifting an ear from time to time (sometimes two, but he really looks dum when he does that, his ears definatly arn’t made for lifting up, they’re so large! lol) he never moves them.

this is interesting. i can’t really completely figure it out. Maxie has lop ears and i can’t always find any rhyme or reason for what position they’re in. he’s pretty laid-back, he loves to flop, but sometimes he’ll be flopped with both ears straight up.

anyone have any ideas? i think the Lang of Lago site only refers to uppy earsed buns.

Thanks for saying that Beka. The ear language with lops much be different that rabbits with up ears.  I notice when Edson is really interested in something, like dinner time, his ears are as forward as they can get.  When he’s in the meatloaf position they are as far back as they can get.

When lops ears go strait out sideways they are very excited or angry, other then that I’m not really sure. I think the body language is very similar but the ears are different.

This is an interesting topic…I don’t have any answers but wanna be in on it in case someone does!

Boston’s ears don’t do a whole lot. Just the one that gets flopped over backwards from time to time b/c of the head tilt. I haven’t noticed any emotion ear positions.

HB is a lop and his ears are hard to read too.  I just read his head down pet me NOW and sleeping ears.

Mimzy’s ears go forward when he either wants something, or thinks something is coming for him. Or if I say his name. When he’s relaxed, they go over his back but aren’t held down firmly, which I take as a sign of anger or some other disturbed emotion.
Most of the time though, his ears are just hanging kind of limply by the side of his head. One may be up from time to time, which we think of as the ‘this bun is set to detonate” or “I’m gettin’ a signal”. It doesn’t mean anything really.

I watch his body more than his ears. You can definitely see him tense when he is upset about something. And when he is relaxed, he lets it ALL hang out and goes completely flat.

my lop has one ear up so it’s easy to see which way they’re pointed. like and antenna on her head. the flopsy ear doesn’t move significantly. hehe

I want a helicopter lop! SO CUTE!!!

I just try to work out what they’re thinking with my lops. Charlie is pretty easy to read but we’ve had him for a while. Layla is just strange and mostly I have no idea whats going through her little nutter brain.
