You could also be allergic to the hay. Timothy especially. I am also not allergic to much of anything, but when Jack molts, it drives me crazy.

So, I guess you would first have to determine whether it really is your bunny or the hay. What kind of hay do you use and do you notice you get allergy symptoms more when you get hay for him?

ahhh! i had the same but i found out about it from being aroud horses alot & my cat sleeping on my bed, i also get realli bad if im around dogs & when millies moulting its not a good time for my allergies lol! i went to the doctor & got anti histamines which help a bit. Sometimes your more suceptible or suffer more from it if you also have hayfever or asthma so controlling that helps aswell.

Orchard grass hay is a viable substitute for timothy if you can get it. We have at least one volunteer at our rescue who is terribly allergic to hay dust, and the orchard grass is easier for her to handle. The timothy also tends to be dustier, which makes things worse if you have allergies. Try to get into the habit of washing your hands after handling your bun or his hay so that you don’t touch your face and make things worse.

I just posted a topic yesterday that is similar to this, in the Lounge. It’s titled Darned Hay Fever.
Some of the members had some great suggestions there on the subject of battling allergies. You might want to check it out.

isn’t there an allergy test you can do at the doctor to determine what the allergy is from? it might be worth having it done so it’s not a guessing game.
