OUR FORUM IS UP BUT WE ARE STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF UPDATING AND FIXING THINGS.  SOME THINGS WILL LOOK WEIRD AND/OR NOT BE CORRECT. YOUR PATIENCE IS APPRECIATED.  We are not fully ready to answer questions in a timely manner as we are not officially open, but we will do our best.

we had a discussion over this all night and no one could come up with the answer!

        Rabbit Anatomy 101:

How many coccygeal vertebral bones are there in the tail of a rabbit?

You know you are truly a bunaholic when a discussion goes on all night about how many bones, (even specifying coccgeal)are in the tail of a rabbit. LOL!

Well, you have come to the right place – we are all so obsessed that I bet even those that don’t know the answer (me included) will HAVE to know. Off to research.

http://www.aalas.org/pdfUtility.aspx    page 18, towards the bottom… “Vertebral Column”:

            the usual vertebral formula is C7 T12 L7 S4 C16

            BUT:

the sacral vertebrae are fused to form the sacrum, and the last 9 coccygeal vertebrae are devoid of arches

            that’s only one source…
