Hi! I just wanted to introduce myself, and my new bunny Oliver
He’s a bit of a handful; I have trouble getting him back in the hutch.. every time. But nevertheless, my boyfriend and I enjoy him very much. The first few days had me wondering if he would be hiding in his igloo the whole time, but he came right out of his shyness around day 3.
Wow, he is so cute!
Oh and welcome!
Welcome to BB!
What a cutie! Be sure to take a look around the website to read about how to properly feed and house him. He looks like he’s off to a comfy start, but it’s not good to feed him pellets with seeds and grains in it because of the high fat content.
The members on the board are really helpful, so if you ever need any advice, just ask! We are all willing to help and share our own experiences!
what a cute little lop! i love how he has more white than black on him, reminds me of a little dalmatian.
<3 welcome!
welcome he is SOOO cute
Welcome to you and your totally cute lop!
Thanks guys! I’m really excited.. the past few weeks have been a lot of fun with him around. I’m definately looking forward to the rest of our lives together <3 haha
bunnyballet…. I actually noticed today that he’s got an black exclamation point on his back!! <– just like those!
I’ll take some pics and show them to you all really soon
digxmexnow… I finally went to the pet shop today after doing more online sniffing… we got food that’s strictly pellets and I got him a couple different choices of sweets, but honestly I’m scared of all that sugar they use! It’s funny because I must’ve looked completely nuts reading the nutrition facts on bunny food lol but I’ve definately got my peepers on everything that he might eat in the future. I also got him a little willow ball and he won’t leave it alone now
I honestly never thought I would have this much fun with a rabbit (I was begging for a puppy.. you believe that??) We’re already upgrading to a bigger home for him this weekend. After I make a vet appointment for a check-up and after we get him “fixed”, we might find a friend for him. But I want to see how the next few months go first..
Oh what an adorable bunny! ^_^ Welcome to BinkyBunny, I’m sure you will enjoy it here. There’s so many great folks here with lots of spot on advice.
I’d be lost without them!
I love the first photo. It’s like he’s playing peek-a-boo. ^_^
And for some reason I thought of Snoopy when I saw the last pic, must be those beautiful black ears against the white fur. ![]()
It’s good to hear your dedicated to giving your new little guy a fantastic life! Hope to hear updates and see more pictures soon!
what a beautiful bunny!!! so cute! reminds me a little of my Max.
do you know how old he is? that’s great that you got the right food. the petstore treats aren’t really good for bunnies in general. what did you get? are you planning on littertraining? is so, you’ll want to get a litter box and only put the litter in it. if you have any questions, please ask!
Thanks!! He’s about 2 months old.. he’s a pet store bun so of course “he was born there” yet she couldn’t tell me an exact date
What I got was this really tiny bag of yogurt covered alfalfa (sp?) pellets and some berry flavored blocks of hay.. whatever is holding them together isn’t chewy, but hard. I gave him a piece about half the size of a Now ‘N Later (the little taffy cube candies). I didn’t want to give him more then that and definately not as frequently as the directions say.. those bags say to give 2-3 pieces everyday, but that sounds asinine to me. I’m not really sure what kind of veggies to get him (next on the weekend to-do list).. and if he can even eat any yet. Ideas?
I do definately want to litter train. He actually halfway litter trained himself already
He pushed his igloo away from the wall of his hutch and poops behind it! I read that some people put hay in the litter box too?
But that doesn’t sound sanitary… I dunno about that. What do you think?
There is a great link to a list of bunny-safe fruits and veggies under the diet and care section. I would suggest looking that over. I printed it for reference. You should introduce the veggies one at a time to make sure they don’t upset your bunny’s tummy. You’ll also find that he’ll prefer certain ones to others.
As far as the treats you got- the “yogurt” kinds are usually not so good for bunnies. It’s best (and cheapest) to just give something likea raisin or banana chip or a little slice of fresh fruit as a treat.
The hay cubes are probably OK, but I’ve never heard of flavored ones!
Doule0Si, when your dealing with rabbits you have to forget about sanitary sometimes…hehe. I was a bit suprised when my bunny started to eat his own poo, which I later found out wasn’t really poo but cecals…but it all comes from the same place!
Bunnies really like to lounge in their litter trays munching on hay. My bunnies eat the litter if they don’t have hay bacuse they just have this urge to munch. If they know that there is hay in the litter tray it’s much more attractive for them and it’s always better for you if they pee in their litterbox rather than in a random corner of the house.
he’s so cute, welcome to binkybunny and congrats on becoming part of the wonderful world of bunnies!
