There is this feed store that does not break up the bales.  They have a good dry shed and a big truck  with hay in it.  They leave the door of the truck open.  They don’t mind that we go take the hay that fell from the bales and we got a big ol bag of it. Lasts a month. I did check for mold and such and the hay is fresh. They sweep the loose piles out of the truck to the ground so I know it hasn’t been in there for months on end. Cool eh? Hurrah.

I found Cotton’s fav hay. Brome hay at Petsmart along with the cage I want to get for him. Plus some good pellets. I wrote down how much fiber protein fat and calcium they are to have. And I read the labels hehee. gosh am i nuts of what

The feed store I go to does this too.  It saves them the work of sweeping out the barn and disposing of the loose stuff.  For the most part I take it for use in my compost, but the buns get occasional alfalfa treats this way too.  Just be sure that the hay has not been stepped on or driven over if you are giving it to your buns.

That is really cool, I wish I could find something like that in my area, but there are very few farms.. actually I haven’t seen one yet! I guess I’m in the heart of the city.

However, I used to work at FoodLion(grocery store) and they used to let me take home some veggies, like heads of romaine that maybe had a bad leaf or two.

That definitely helped me cut corners.
