I’m not sure how much salad is too much or too little for him. I’ve read two cups, but I have no idea how to measure two cups with the greens!
Since I switched to Oxbow, Atticus has been eating so well!! I’m So Happy! And I pretty much love you all!

Each morning I give him around 1.2-1.5 oz of Romain, Parsley, and either Cucumber Skin or Carrot Skin along with more hay and a little bit of pellets that I scatter around his area.
At night I give him another salad and a little more pellets.

His poop is fine. He poops a lot though! I never dreamed that a little bun could make so much crap!

for me “Two cups” is roughly a good handful of greens. I get the ‘baby greens’ pre-packaged salad bags and I go through about a third of it each time I give them to the two buns. So I’d say a quarter of a bag would be good for one bun – i.e. 2 cups.

Like Markus I’ve started using the prepackaged bags… one bag will last me about four mealtimes, but I also like to mix it up with real vegetables (a bit of broccoli, or bell peper, or celery…) Beka told me when I asked the same thing to measure out two cups of greens by chopping them, and then take note of how much you used to fill the 2 cups…

I dole out heaping handfuls of greens, I don’t measure, though I’ll bet there’s at least two cups, if not more, in each serving.

Yeah – I buy a bunch of greens and then rip them up and place in a giant Ziploc container. The container lasts me 4 days with Coco – a big salad in the Morning, and a smaller handful in the evening.

Right now the mix has Fresh Kale, Romaine, Sprouts and flat leaf parsley. I also have a vigorous herb garden from which I pluck some mint, basil or cilantro daily. Occasionally she gets a bit of the rosemary.

Last mix was red leaf lettuce, parsley, mint and baby bok choy. As I live in Montreal, I have lots of “ethnic” markets to choose from and get super cheap greens/veggies – or if I have been to Marche Jean Talon for the super good greens. I also have a green pepper and snow peas that I have been tossing in the mix day to day.

I have been increasing the greens a bit and waiting to give her the pellets (oxbow) until evening, as she puts off eating hay if she has pellets available.

My friends find it all very funny to watch me shop for greens for the rabbit, questioning the farmers at Jean Talon as to whether they use pesticides…

I will measure tonight’s salad to see what my measuring cup says.
If it’s more than two cups, is it still alright to give it to him twice a day?
He’s still eating a ton of hay and loves the little bit of pellets and his poop isn’t runny.
I’ve been making the salads ahead of time. I buy the Romain and Parsley, break them apart, wash, dry, put in bowl, dump bowl into clean paper towel then store in a zip lock bag.  It takes me a good hour to make  5 days of salad! A head of Romain makes about 4 – 5 days of salad depending how big it is.

I’d say that two big handfuls is a great measure, and is definitely very close to two cups. I buy heads of romaine and cut them up myself, sometimes I cut really thin strips and those are probably easier to measure in a measuring cup if you ever wanted to try it out and get an idea of exactly two cups is – but I think an appoximate two cups is probably good enough!

Baleful – I’m jealous you have an herb garden! I’m moving into my new house in about 1 month and I have been reading book after book about herb gardens! I can’t wait to start my own!

i’ve even read about feeding between 2 and 4 cups per bunny. my two share about 6 cups of veggies a day, at least 4 different kinds.
