Has anyone used those prepackaged pet wipes for dogs and cats on a bun? If so, did it do any good for shedding, yellowing etc? I’m assuming since they are cat and dog safe they wont hurt buns but just might not do any good.

          hmmm not me…

But I will note that if it’s safe for dogs and cats, that doesn’t necessarily mean it OK for buns. (However I have read if it’s safe for horses it’s safe for buns).

Hopefully someone else has tried them and can advise. What in particular are you looking at wiping on her? Or just for use later?

I used to use them on my guinea pig (who was the messiest little guy ever), and he HATED it. I got the point that I realized it wasn’t good, even if safe, because he was so distressed. (I guess that was the “pig” in him, hehe.) Definitely stay away from ones that aren’t bunny specific (maybe horse ones are okay?) and stay away from any that claim a scent. I think that whatever makes it smell like roses is not good for bunny…

There are recipes about to make your own baby wipes so maybe you can make bunny wipes with an appropriate product. I’d still be concerned about the residue left thou as bunnies will be licking it off at some point.  Brushing will help with shedding and most enjoy this.  Also brushing with cornstarch helps freshen things up.  Yellowing is stain I think so not much you can do there.

LOL can you imagine a horse wipe?

i wouldnt assume they are safe just because they are for cats and dogs, i havent used them but in my pet store they do have ‘small animal wipes’ in a pack which would be better.

Small animal wipes are actually not very safe– they often have strong odors and make fur residue-y. It may sound bad, but I think healthier products are made for cats and dogs than small animals, so I’d trust “all natural dog wipes” compared to small animal or bunny wipes any day…

why does he need to be wiped off at all? is he not grooming himself? does he have poopy butt? are his feet yellow? what specifically is the issue? i would try and fix the underlying cause first.
