A couple of weeks ago I put up a post regarding Buddy and his not eating like he used to. Thanks to all for the advice.

I took Buddy to the vet last Thursday. He wasn’t terribly happy about going, but he needed it. His blood work showed a high level of white blood cells and he has to go back to be retested.

The vet also found that his teeth don’t line up properly. His teeth are not getting ground down which means that the vet will have to do it for him. He’ll have to go in each month for his teeth to be checked and fixed. Because he will have to go in so often, the vet is going to give us a break on the fees; should be about $30/visit. (She’s a great vet!) He had a really long bottom tooth which may have been related to his not eating.

I’m hoping that the high level of white blood cells is related to his teeth and not something more serious. He’s back to eating now and is doing binkies all over the house. He still doesn’t want hay, but we’re working on that.

        Thanks again

Yay for Buddy, and good to hear that he is doing better.  Teeth problems can really cause troubles for our bunny pals, it was good that you noticed he was off and took him in before the situation got to be worse.

That’s great. It sounds like you have a very knowledgeable vet too and it’s great she’s working with you since this will most likely be an on-going issue for him.

Those dental problems can be well…problematic.

It does sound like he’s recovering nicely.

Did the vet say why she thought his white blood cell count might be high – I suspect you could be right that it’s related to the dental problem and not eating.

That’s great news! I mean, not that theres a problem, that the vet found the problem right away and has a gameplan!

No word yet on why the white cell count was high. I’ll keep you posted.

Buddy is acting great now; much more like the little fellow we’ve come to know.

We just got a report back on the white blood cell count. The second test came back normal, so Buddy’s ok. We are having to go in pretty often to get his teeth trimmed. He doesn’t like that, but it’s needed. Thanks for all the well wishes!
