We brought home a new, second bunny yesterday.  The girl we bought her from gave us a bag of the Blue Seal pellets she was on, and we gave the new bunny (Murray) a few tablespoons of that, sprinkled with the Oxbow ones we currently feed our other bunny, Snickers.

Overnight, he did not eat many, if any, pellets.  He did eat some hay.  I have seen him eat it.  The girl was feeding him Timothy (Murray is 4 months old), so we continued to feed him only Oxbow hay, and not any alfalfa.

Murray is pooping fine.  Mostly hard ones, with a few mushies here and there.  We also gave him a 2″ piece of one kale leaf, when we gave Snicky her greens last night.

Any thought on how he is doing?  Is it okay if he is mostly only eating hay (he must really like the hay, huh?!), and not too many pellets?

        Thanks!

        Renee

Yes it’s great that she likes hay.  Hay is the most important food for your bunny. I would not worry one bit if she doesn’t eat many pellets as long as she’s getting fresh greens every day along with the hay.  Don’t know what’s in the Blue pellets but they should be free of any added ingredients.  Oxbow timothy pellets are by far the best so I would definitely switch to those. Do check out Diet under Bunny Info above if you haven’t already.

Oh geez, I didn’t even see that info section, thanks for pointing that out! I’m not sure what is in the Blue Seal pellets, but there’s no colored stuff, seeds, etc. The girl we got Murray from gave a quart-sized bag stuffed with Blue Seal, and my plan is to gradually add more and more of the oxbow pellets in until it’s all oxbow.

            Thanks for reassuing me!
