As a new bunny owner, I just want to say thank you to this site.  It’s been a source of a lot of good and current information for me.  We’ve had Ruff for a week now and I’m getting used to life with a bunny.  He’s definitely warming up to me, I just wish he’d come and sit in my lap on his own accord.  I know he may never, but I get the feeling that he’s going to be an affectionate rabbit.  He’s already given me kisses and he’s never even thought of biting.  He does give a thump every now and then.  It scared the bejessus out of me the first time he did it.  But now I just tell him to settle down and quit being a bully.   I love Ruffles!!

Aw, Ruffles, he already loves you!
Lap sitting is a challenge, but if you lie on the floor, he might climb on your back – the better to nibble your hair, my Dear. Bunnies are not that particular about where they sit on you, so laps aren’t so special to them. You’re doing great for the first week.

Oh no worries! Give Ruffles more than a week! Trust me, it will be worth the wait – let him get used to you and his new surroundings – this could take a few months, but slowly you will see his wonderful personality come shining through!

And you are right, this is a GREAT site! I have visited many and this one is by far the best! Very knowledgeable people with really great advice!

Haha, with Layla she was worried to climb on me until she saw it was ok. I set her cage next to a cardboard box, and then I laid down next to the box. When she realized that the only way to get off the box was crawling over me, she climbed on. Then apparently she found my back was really comfy – my girlfriend had to get her off, haha. I was worried to move because I didn’t want to toss her off!

Ever since that day she could care less about crawling over me
