It drives me crazy anytime I see some backyard breeder parked at Wallmart trying to sell their dogs and other animals to un-prepared people who usualy end up giving the animal away or surredering it to animal control.

The AC here is always complaining about being over crowded. If selling animals on the on the side of the road was illegal (like it should be) I could almost promise that we woudn’t have any over-crowding problems.

It’s just the same for pet stores that stock up on bunnys for Easter and puppies for Christmas.

        Agree?

I don’t understand why Walmart even allows it – but then again Walmart does some odd stuff.

Some cities it is illegal to sell them on the side of the road.

          Yes, I agree.

I live in the DC metro area…and though I’ve read alot on message boards about people selling animals outside of Walmart I’ve never actually seen it.

Never heard of that either but that’s terrible. I think if I saw that I might park my butt next to them and harass them and their customers

dont have that problem here, you cant just sell them anywhere and pet stores dont carry many animals, usually only a budgie and a few fish, saying that however we have very relaxed rules on actual animal care, so it goes either way, but yes i agree this should be banned.

I live in Vermont and have never seen this in this area.  I do see a lot of free animals in the papers and online, particularly Craigslist.

I acquired my bunny from a livestock auction (my grandfather actually bought her for $1.00 – a little girl brought her because her family was moving away and they wouldn’t let the bunny go too.  He felt bad so her bought her knowing that I would be the soft hearted person I am and take her ).  Anyways, I know the auction is a horrible place to sell animals, no matter the kind, but I feel better knowing that I’ve at least provided a good home for one bunny.  Unfortunately, nobody can save them all.

I’ve never seen that here… maybe it’s illegal? Wal Mart here does allow girl scouts and barbecues and people with petitions, though…

I’ve never seen that in my area but I would start s**t if I did!
