        Hi,

I am sorry that I am not on much anymore.  Things have been hetic here.  I promised scarlet Rose I’d give helpful tips about taking care of a bunny while pregnant.  Istill want to do that, but right now I have a lot on my mind.  I am enclosing an e-mail i’ve been sending my friends. It is as detailed as I know. I want to state before you read it that I’m not pushing my beliefs on anyone.  I respect everyone elses views and opinions.  Please don’t be offended.

        Thanks,

        Danielle

        Hi all,
I guess this is both a praise and prayer request. On May 12, I found out that I was pregnant. As soon as I started seeing my dr, they found out that I had high blood pressure. They put me on medication and sent me to a specialist. Even though I did not understand this at the time. This was a good thing. It is also a God thing! When I first started seeing the specialist, he told me that I would be coming in every 4-6 weeks. I am now going in every week.

Last week, when the baby was getting measured in an ultrasound, we found out a couple of things. First of all, I’m having a boy. Second, he has Posterior Urethral Valves (PUV). This is where there is a blockage that won’t let urine out. It is building up in his kidneys. I am about 16/17 weeks pregnant. This is very good that the Dr. caught it at this time. If he caught it later, my baby might not survive. I realize that he is telling us the worst case scenario. As long as the baby’s sac is full of fluid his chances are good. Which as of today, it looked fine.

Next Tuesday, I go again. They are going to do two things. The first thing is that they are going to insert a needle and drain the baby’s bladder. Then either later that day or the next day, I’m to come back again to get a fresh sample of the baby’s urine. I guess a week later, they will let us know what the results are. The Dr. told me today that the blockage might be partial and that everything might take care of itself, or we might need to have surgery. The baby’s kidneys are just now starting to function. If need be, in the next few weeks the baby and I will have surgery. They will have to go in and insert a shunt into his bladder so that urine can go where it needs to go. The only concern is that the baby will pull it out and the Dr. will have to perform the surgery again. I find this both amusing and amazing. I bet if we have it done again, I won’t find it amusing.

Earlier, I said that this was a praise and a prayer request. The praise part is that if I didn’t have high blood pressure, I wouldn’t be going to a specialist who would find this condition in time. I have to admit, the last two trips to the Dr. have been very scary, but there is hope. Thank God!

The prayer request is that God will either let this work out on its own, or we have the surgery and that fixes the problem. After the baby is born, he will have to have surgery to permanently correct this issue. The major concern is that the baby doesn’t develop any kidney damage. If that happens, there is little the dr’s can do. Right now, everything looks good, and it is more of a concern than anything. Please keep us in your prayers.

        Thanks,

        Danielle

Danielle, thank you for the update. You and your baby will be in my thoughts. I can imagine how stressful this is for you but you sound like you are in good hands and feel confident about your doctor.

Here is the information I sent today for people.
First of all, I want to thank you for all of your prayers. Prayer works! We also decided to name the baby Zachary Allen Jones.

Last week, the report was very scary for us. This weeks report was much better. We were supposed to have a needle to drain our son’s bladder, and then another one to get a sample. However, because of the good ultrasound we got, we didn’t need to do that test. I am very thankful . It sounded uncomfortable for both the baby and myself.

The ultrasound showed that the baby’s bladder and kidneys have reduced fluid. One kidney is still bigger than the other, but it did go down some in fluid. The sack the baby is in is also filled with a good level of fluid. This is an answer to our prayers. Because of this, the doctor thinks that he has a partial blockage and fluid can come out. He is growing well, and his heart looks good. If we continue to have good reports, surgery won’t be needed.

On the way out, the dr. said to keep up whatever I was doing. I told him it was all prayer and God. He said keep it up.

Another God thing was my high blood pressure level. I am supposed to take three pills a day. I ran out yesterday and haven’t been able to get a hold of my OB for a refill. The pharmacy had tried to fax them too. Usually when I skip meds, my high blood pressure is sky high. This time however, it was almost at the normal level. I was the most nervous I’ve been yet, and I have missed two pills. God really is taking care of Zach and I.

Thanks again for your prayers and encouragement. This is a scary time, but God is in control! I won’t have another update until next Wed. Please, continue to keep us in your prayers.

                Thanks again,
                Danielle, Roger, and Zachary Jones

                        Danielle,
What a trying time for all of you. You certainly are doing something right. After reading this, my first thought was that perhaps the baby will continue to grow well, and the passageway will naturally grow larger than the blockage, freeing it up. Maybe that’s what’s happened?

                        Whatever it is, keep resting and being so attentive. You’re doing great. {{{{{{Comfort vibes}}}}}}}}}

The name Zachary Jones is so cute (I mean, very manly my little brother hates when I say “cute” because he says boys aren’t supposed to be “cute”!) I will definitely bring this prayer request to my prayer team at church. I’m so glad to hear both you and Zachary are doing so well!
