So we went to town today. And I was ready to make a plea that the little torti lop at Petco come home with us. I was ready to cry blood if necessary.

And of course, we get there and it is gone.

        Ah well, wasn’t meant to be I guess. But I’m a little heartbroken. ;_;

Probably a good thing though, because my daughter wound up nearly fainting later when we went to the grocery store (she hadn’t eaten anything this morning and was wearing a heavy coat and got overheated). I thought we were going to the ER for sure! She’s better now though.

Sooo…I am back to just thinking of my two. A sure-fire cure for the ‘almost-adopted-a-new-bunny-blues” is to cuddle the one waiting for you at home! ^_^

aww. just a sign that the lop found her forever home with someone else… if it’s meant to be you’ll find another little bunny there (hopefully on a day your daughter decides not to almost faint!) You’ll just have to give your 2 lots of extra cuddles for now!

I know. It’s funny, we both prayed the bun would get adopted by someone nice. In fact, I pray that over every bunny I find in the store.

I suppose if I were searching for another BUNdle of joy, I should’ve gone to the animal auction at the end of the fair on the 9th and tried to save one of the rabbits there. :-/

But this one was special. I don’t know how else to put it. So it stung a little. But at the same time, I’m happy for it.

Aww at least he found a home

You know what else is a cure for wanting more? Unclogging hay from your vaccum in the middle of a massive cage cleaning session, in thrity degree weather (ok, 100F) LOL

Aw, I’m sorry about that disappointment. I am sure glad your daughter is okay though. How scary.

KK – HAHAHA! That is so funny that you say that because THAT…THAT I cannot STAND – when the vacuum gets clogged while the weather is hot. As you struggle and ECH!

And then you have to stand outside in the stinking heat trying to empty the hoover bag into the bin.

Whats meant to be will be…

I pray for all the bunnies I see at the petstore too. That they all end up in good hands.

I can sympathize. Last week I found what I thought were the perfect new buns for us: a rescued, 3-yr-old bonded pair, already altered and potty-trained. My husband agreed to go see them, but dragged his feet for a week, until they found another home. I guess he’s not yet ready to start over. Last year we lost both of our elderly buns, and the final 18 months was a sad, slow decline, requiring intense caretaking to keep them alive and happy as long as we did. (Warning: traumatic story — With our girlbun, the vet said she had a month to live, but we managed to keep her going for a year. However, we waited one day too long to euthanize her and woke up to find her condition had deteriorated rapidly. She was lying in a pool of blood and urine, going into shock, and clearly at the end. With no vet option at that hour, I had to put her down myself while I sang her their bedtime song. I won’t go into details, but it was quick and painless, and a last act of love. Six months later we went through something similar with the boybun, and we had been staying with him nearly ’round the clock in shifts, but he died alone while we ran an errand. I still don’t know which end was worse for us.) Now I’m ready for more bunnies, but I want my husband to be ready too, so I’m not pushing, but I’m still disappointed and sad. I know that eventually we will both be onboard, and in the meantime we’re going over our “houseplans” for a new habitat, but still, I have no furbabies at home! Arghh! In the meantime, I love reading about all of your buns and their photos – it keeps me sane. (And thanks for reminding me about unclogging the vacuum, I tend to forget those parts!)

Tamera, that is such a sad story! I lost a dear cat just last winter who was having breathing difficulties in his last weeks. He died in my arms and I had no vet nor way to send him on quickly myself except to pray that God would just take him. There is nothing good about having an animal die in your arms and suffering. I am thinking of getting a degree in animal medicine, as I probably will always have at least one type of animal companion, just so that when this situation presents itself, as it’s sure to do, I will be ready for it.

K&D, I think just the one more. I mean seriously, I shouldn’t take on ANY more, but this one…I just can’t emphasize it enough…it was SO special. I guess it’s expression and body postures and overall size and shape, just seemed to remind me of Mimzy. I thought, if things wound up not working out in my attempts to bond Pip and Mim, maybe this one would’ve been a more comfortable fit for him.

Not that I won’t care for buns that prefer to be single. I just kind of feel bad that Mimzy was originally dropped off with two buns whom he seemed to really like and get along with, (which we weren’t able to catch as easy as him, so other folks in the neighborhood took one, and the other just disappeared one day before we could rescue it), despite not being fixed. And he always seems so little and alone in his night pen. He got on so well with Pip at first, but now she just bullies him.

                              But…eh…moot point now anyway. ^_^

if you try to not look for a bunny, one will come right up and find you!
when i was thinking of getting a 2nd bunny i got all the stuff set up first, and then just waited for the right bunny to come along so i could snap them up!
