My Oxbow shipment of Bunny Basics T, Timmy Cubes, and Papaya Tablets for Little-Bit came in today. Woot!

I just need to know, is it okay to give one or two papaya tablets a day for treats long-term? Or are there any negatives about the papaya tablets as long-term treats?

A sidenote -I LOVE how the Bunny Basics T has a ‘switching over’ chart! Never seen that done on a bag of bunny food before. Quite impressed! We shall have to wait out on beginning to switch her over to it from her ‘baby bunny food’ for about a month, though. She’s just now almost finished switching over from Alfalfa to Timothy AND I’m about to move her into my room…almost finally ready now! (={ Psychologically AND physically.) Just have to figure out how I want to configure her NIC condo.

That’s wonderful your shipment came! Depending on the size of your rabbit limit to 1 or 2 per day. I give my two (about 9 pounds each) 1 in the morning and one at night for the past 3 1/2 years and the shelter up by me does the same and has for a very long time. If you get poopy butt or some GI problems, cut back as some bunnies are really sensitive to sugar (even natural sugar like fructose). Also, it is a good thing to monitor especially if they need to lose weight. It should really just be given like a treat. So, for Little-Bit, I would try 1/2 a tablet 2 times a day. How much does she weigh?

AND they are made with timothy hay (I read) and so they have some fibre to them too!

My bunnies didn’t like them at first-but they’re like that-now they are bonkers for them

Yeah, Little-Bit doesn’t seem to like strong-smelling things at first either, but…she inevitably always tried them out! I imagine she will get to liking these. Hay in them too, huh? That’s good to know!

She is about 3lb I think -that was her last checkup. So yeah, a half tablet to one whole tablet daily sounds like something good to start out with!

I just want to have something to give her before bedtime that says, ‘Today was a good day. You have a good sleep, sweetie. I love you.’ y’know? =P I always did this with Binkles, but I gave her these hard treats called ‘Alfalfa Slims’ and ‘Carrot Slims’ that you can buy at Petsmart…though I’m not sure how good they are for buns, seeing as how almost everything at commercial pet stores is ultimately bad. I always had meant to switch her to a more nutritional treat like Papaya Tablets, but I just never got around to it.

Just a quick update; Little-Bit is ALL about Papaya tablets! I wafted the scent of the container in front of her and then offered her a half of one. It was gone before you could say ‘bunny’.

LOL that’s cute what Liitle-Bit did! Beeslee actually inhales hers also!!! Almost took my finger along with the treat last night! I usually give Beeslee 1 a night unless I give her a small carrot at night. Minxzie my cat has her treat the same time so they both come and jump on me when I open the treat drawer. Spoiled just spoiled. I guess I am here to serve them LOL!

Awe that’s cute! I too give my babies a bunny cookie and a papaya tablet good night for the same reason.
