Does anyone know if leaves from an apple tree are OK to give?

This lady from work pruned her apple trees and brought me literally the equivelent of a small tree-leaves too…Should I remove the leaves before giving to the bunnies or can they eat them too?

          good question,

I planted an apple and a weeping willow this spring and after this bout of 105+ weather, both gave up the ghost on me. So now I have chewsticks!

Apple leaves and sticks are A OK for bunnies, mine go bonkers for them.  My neighbor has a tree that I get cuttings from sometimes.  As with any food that comes from someone elses place, just make sure that the woman does not spray her apple tree with anything, and make sure to wash the leaves and twigs to be sure to get any air borne contaminants off of them.

On the same line – are cuttings from willow trees what willow wood and wreaths are actually made of? My hubbie’s parents have a willow tree and when we were at his house this weekend they cut us a bunch of pieces for the bunnies. Is that what willow wood really is? (is that a silly question?)

MooBunnay – not a silly question at all!

There are actually different types of willow. Much of the willow that busybunny products are made from are from red willow – it’s a willow bush. But the willow wreaths come from weeping willow. Both are great You just have to make sure that the tree hadn’t been sprayed with pesticides.

Yay! So it really is weeping willow, thats great because Brian’s father gives the backyard weeping willow a “haircut” once a year so that he can mow under it. He actually just goes out there with a chainsaw and holds it at about waist level and walks all around the tree, hahahaha.
