I guess when it rains it pours ![]()
Pepe hasn’t eaten or pooped for about 5 days! Been doing fluids and pain meds and reglan until I could get him to my vet. He seems in okay spirits still biting and lunging at me. Also started hand feeding him. He’s done this before – I suspect a blockage like before as well and think my vet might tell me to continue what I’m doing. He’s extremely tense when I do fluids on him – he’s not a great patient. He’s also starting to poop mucous which makes me think his gut is starting to work but I don’t like the way it looks. Poor rabbit.
Twizzler needs a sanitary shave bad – her poor hygeine habits are causing a urinary tract infection – I think she’s lost some weight though which she really needed to do. She’s just one of those rabbits with continuous problems. I’ve been doing fluids and antibiotics but I think I need some different antibiotics. I’m cleaning her butt area daily too to help with her unsanitary habits but it’s also starting to look raw and red.
Maxine has never been sick but I think she has a urinary infection because she stopped using her litter box altogether and she’s NEVER done that. Peeing and pooping. At first I thought maybe it’s the litter box but it’s the one she’s always used – I took off the high top part but still she didn’t use it. My friend said when that happens to her rabbits it’s always a UTI so to the vet she goes and she is one heavy rabbit – all muscle and bulk. I got my work out this morning with all 3 though – none of them are dainty lightweights.
I’m exhausted from playing nurse and maid to all my rabbits
Can you send vibes to my 3 ill bunnies please.
omg, Sarita
I knew you had a lot’o bunnies, but how do you take care of all that everday?
(((((healing thoughts and bunny hugs from me and my 6))))) for all your wonderful work!
I was wondering if you’re a nurse or how you learned all your skills, I know a lot of it is natural talent.
Prayers for Maxine, Twizzler, Pepe AND you!
Kathy
aw poor you! dont worry it will be all ok again soon! *vibes to all your poor bunnies* and *vibes for you!*
Oh Sarita I am so sorry you have to deal with all this. You must be just plain exhausted! Whenever I get this urge to get another rabbit, reality sets in and realize how lucky I am to have a healthy rabbit. Good luck to you and I hope this is all over soon! You are a fantastic bunny mom!
HUGS for you Sarita!!! you do such an awesome job with your crew.

Oh, poor bunnies! And poor Sarita! Of course, many vibes to you and sweet/spunky (as the case may be!) buns!
{{{ Maxine, Twizzler, Pepe }}}
Yikes, 3 at once! Poor Sarita, that is a lot of responsibility in one vet visit. I hope eveybun ends up being OK after seeing the doc.
phew Sarita and I thought i had problems. I hope that doesn’t sound bad. Yes you are handling it very well. Good for you. Vibes Vibes. May these buns get healthy and remain healthy and you Sarita may you not poop out but keep lots of energy for the needed bun problems. You deserve a rest. when this is all over. Hang in there.
‘poop out’, hahahh
sorry, couldn’t help it, after all the very serious discussions we have here about poop!
(((((more vibes for Sarita)))))
Kathy
LOL – I do hope Pepe gets the poops out for sure :~)
Kathy – I am not a nurse and I mainly just learned alot on my own and from my rabbit friends because it was just necessary. Doing sub-q’s and shots really took alot of nerve but once I did it a few times I was okay – I still have some challenges like with Pepe, he’s so tense and he bled some yesterday which freaked me out but he was okay. It’s also easier on the rabbits if I don’t have to drag them to the vet when I can do what I can do on my own.
Thank everyone for all your vibes for me and the buns. I probably won’t talk to Dr. Effie until I actually get there – she’s always so busy.
God bless your three bunnies and especially you, Sarita! ((((((((prayers & hugs for buns and Sarita)))))))))))))
Vibes for all three AND YOU!!!

oh no, I wasn’t laughing at poor Pepe, I was laughing at BT’s hope that You don’t ‘poop out’.
I was wondering how you learned how to do all that. I did the same thing with my horses, the vet knew he could tell me what and how to do something and I would do it, even with shots and things, but the bunnies just seem so very fragile, I’m a bit afraid of them.
Sounds kinda funny coming from someone who could block a 1,300 lb horse’s mouth open and reach in and get a splinter out of the roof of the mouth….lol, I’m scared of the bunny!
Jeepers creepers! Um…just for reference…do you mind sharing how much today’s visit cost? I’m looking at a 3 bunny visit soon.
Hope everyone is OK!
T&R’s Mom, a 3 bunny visit?! Do you have a 3rd hidden that I missed?
Sarita, I hope your vet trip went well… Please let us know how the cute critters are doing…
Yes, Thumper aka the Petco Box Bunny with the broken leg.

hows things today hun? ***more get well vibes***
Big healing vibes from the land down under. ((((((((((((((((((((Maxine, Twizzler, Pepe))))))))))))))))))))
Thanks for all the vibes.
Here’s an update:
Pepe – not sure what is wrong with him – she did an x-ray and his cecum and stomach are actually empty so it’s not a blockage – she thought his heart looked a little enlarged though. I am continuing to hand feed him. My vet put him on metronidazole (flagyl) which is an antibiotic – this is something she would normally do for a rabbit in stasis but because of the mucous that he is “pooping” she thinks he might have an infection and we are continuing with metroclopramide (reglan) which is a gut motility drug and fluids as needed for now. So it’s a wait and see right now – might go back and do bloodwork. He does not act like he’s in pain though which is so odd so no pain meds right now unless I think he needs them. He seems hungry when I hand feed him though. She doesn’t think it’s his teeth either. So it’s just a wait and see right now for him and hope I can stimulate his gut to get him eating.
Maxine – she doesn’t think it’s a urinary issue which I don’t either because she doesn’t exhibit the same signs as my other problem rabbits nor does she have urine scald. She thinks because of her age and size it could be a mobility issue so I’m going to start her on metacam which is an anti-inflammatory and see if that helps.
Twizzler – I have to express her bladder. She needs to be “standing” up on her hind legs so that I can get all the sludge down and out of her. Because she is on all fours the sludge doesn’t really go anywhere when she urinates so I have to stand her up and basically massage her bladder area and the sludge will hopefully release this way. She showed me how to do this and I think I can do it :~)
T&R – I’m not certain how much this is going to cost because she did not have it invoiced before I left – I had 2 x-rays too and got some medication so for now I have no idea.
Thank you for the vibes too.
Oh poor bunnies! And poor YOU! I don’t know how you keep up with it all.
oh no poor you! keep us updated!
