To all those who have piggies … do you have trouble trimming their nails like I do … I am so over cutting both Tyson’s and Micky’s nails .

I accidentally cut one of Tyson’s nails too short as he was quirming so much.  Micky is just as bad too … and he nips as well .  I only managed to get a few nails cut … perhaps I need to have another go .

How does everyone else do it

OH wiggly piggies. I have no idea. I never had piggies b4.  I hope someone who knows can answer you. I assume piggies don’t trance or do burritos very well. oh my I spelled that buttitos. Sounds like a  new potato chip brand. hehee. ooops

I can’t do it by myself with the normal one, he sees the clippers and jerks his leg around so much I’m afraid I’ll cut it off. I get my son to hold him in a burrito in one hand (with the piggie against his chest) and his other hand keeps the one leg as still as he can.

That way when I hold the foot, there’s not quite so much motion going on, but I don’t cut them very close to the quick. When I got them their nails were so long they were twisted and curled around so I’m still working on trimming them back to normal.

the little Snowflake, she’s pretty easy. Since she’s blind and deaf, she just cuddles and never knows it’s coming til I’ve clipped. poor baby.

The way I did it was similar to the bunny burrito method.

Flip them upside down like your going to trance them and wrap them up. Then I would put a peice of lettuce for them to eat (yes, they ate while upside down getting their nails trimmed) and they would munch away pretty contendedly while I did their nails.

The way I do it so I don’t get quick even when squirming is I hold each nail firmly with one hand and trim with the other. It takes a little longer but no quick cutting!

if you took them to a vet they would probably do it for a couple of quid, might be better getting that done than stressing over it

also LOL @ wiggly piggies haha

I took them to the vet and they charge a fortune $20 bucks each … .  I so much prefer to cut Luey’s nails

I will endeavour to have another go and arm myself with a load of their fav veggies

I’m too scared to trim my piggies’ nails! One of them is getting curly

I find the front nails seem to grow even more curlier … Tyson’s front ones are all very curly and it makes it even more difficult to trim . I am going to have to attack his nails this w/end … Tyson won’t even look at me at the moment when I am cleaning his cage out … he backs head long into a corner and just sits there, trying to hide his fat butt … as if I can’t see him!!

Its best to just trim a bit off at a time … but needs to be done consistently to eliminate the curl ..

The back flipping I have tried as well … megga grunts  … Tantram Tyson!!

When I pet sat a few pigs it was very annoying to cut their nails!! What I would do is hold them tightly or have someone else hold them and cover their eyes. Give them a few treats to make them know it’s good thing. Then I would cut them while the other person held them. After I would give the gp another treat.
