When i woke up this morning I noticed that Daisy had really nasty poops not quite diareah but really really soft, the only thing I can think of is that she had way more veggies yesterday than she ever does because i had already given her her veggies earlier in the day and when my husband came home he had given her a lot more (dang men) do you think that would be the cause of this mess in the morning??  shes still hoping around and eating her alfalfa

if she is used to veggies, i don’t think that would be the problem. i think it’s usually too many pellets or treat foods that result in that, not veggies. she is very young, right? has she been to the vet for a check-up? i think coccidia is characterized by soft poop.

I’d watch and if this hasn’t cleared up by tomorrow I’d take her in? Is it so messy she needs a bum bath?

i wonder if they were cecal droppings, she had too many and then stepped in them. that is different than diarrhea. that can be from foods that are too rich (like pellets). were the poops more *fragrant* than normal?

When introducing veggies for the first time … just give her one at a time … that way you will know if it does not agree with her.

Too many veggies at once can cause problems in some rabbits.  What type of veggies are you giving her?

how young/old is she? Young rabbits do need to have greens introduced slowly and too much too fast can cause digestive upset, so do keep an eye on her, and tell hubby to stay on the veggie schedule.

I am glad she is doing better.  I have found with the various litters of foster babies I’ve cared for, they often get a day or two of excess cecal production, particularly when they are new to the house.  Bunnies I’ve pulled from shelters get it sometimes to.  I think the change in environment and changes in diet can cause this, and too many veggies can definitely do it, as can introduction of new greens.  Rabbit digestion is a complicated and delicate process, it is easy for them to get thrown off.
